My dad sinks further into dementia every day.  He wants to be the old him, but he doesn't remember the constant crazy shit he does.  Life does indeed suck.  My opinion is that there is indeed a Devil, but no yin-yang nonsense.  The devil kicked God's ass and the only reason we don't suffer more is he's not omnipotent and only has so much time to torture us. The good news is video games are fun, when my dad isn't asking me if I have a shot to change his baby's sex.

MY Dad did not have mental problems like that. He was abusive, a drunk, he beat me, I ran away more times then I can remember, etc, but he had his mind until the end.

My WIFE's mother however ( my mother in-law ), also suffered full blown dementia, and she came to live with me and my family toward the end. It got so bad I couldn't get her to eat, and I eventually called 911 and had them come and pick her up. Sadly she also died a few months later in the hospital, so while it wasn't MY father it happened to, I understand fully what you are talking about.
