At roughly the same time, Cervantes makes his entrance into the mansion, finally learning just what this study is about.

As he goes upstairs, he is invited into a grand meeting room.

 

 

Cervantes: "Thank you for welcoming me, Mr. Sanchez. It's an honor to meet you."

Charlie: "Oh, please. No honorifics needed. Just call me Charlie."

Cervantes: "Okay... Charlie. So, what is this study about, exactly?"

Charlie: "Well... that's the thing..."

Claire: "We don't know. Not yet, at least."

Cervantes: "What?"

 

 

Claire: "A research team on the South Pacific island of Lussanca has found a previously undiscovered herb. We are currently researching just how this herb can be made useful in form of a capsule. Theoretical uses range from medicine to military and purely commercial purposes, but without a solid test subject, the study cannot continue."

Charlie: "That is why I have offered up this mansion as a test environment. But without a test subject, that is not worth much. Hence, the advertisement."

Cervantes: "Uh-huh. Why not offer yourself up, then?"

Claire: "Mr. Sanchez' advanced age makes him ineligible as a test subject. Any results would be muddied by possible side effects of that, and any health risks that may arise from the drug would multiply."

Cervantes: "I'm not exactly against earning some money the easy way... but I've heard the previous subject has left the study. What's up with that?"

Claire: "We cannot comment on that. The contract includes a confidentiality clause. Unless explicitly stated otherwise, you are not allowed to talk about the study, and we are not allowed to talk about your participation either."

Charlie: "Of course, we won't force you to stay should you decide to leave as well. But naturally, that means you won't get paid either."

 

 

Cervantes: "And what exactly am I supposed to do here?"

Claire: "Every week, we will give you a dosage. We may increase or decrease the dosage, depending on the effect. Then, we want to see your daily life in the mansion, and note if there is anything different about your behavior. For comparison, we will observe you for a week without a dosis."

Charlie: "And please note, the mansion is riddled with cameras. By signing the contract, you will temporarily cede your privacy."

Cervantes: "Wait - did I catch that right? I'm supposed to live here?"

Charlie: *laughs* "Yes, that's right. I reckon it's big enough for the three of us, and we require an observable environment."

Claire: "Which - just to be clear - means that you won't be able to leave for the length of the study without telling us beforehand."

Cervantes: "Alright - no more questions needed. I'm in!"

Charlie: "Nice! Great to have you on board, then!"

 

Over the next few days, Cervantes would make himself comfortable, often sitting in the living room watching television.

 

 

But something, or rather, someone, keeps catching his eye...

 

 

Cervantes: "Do you always wear that lab coat?"

Claire: "It helps me stay focused. And helps with my work, yes."

Cervantes: "Damn, you're still working from here? Gotta say, kinda makes me feel bad enjoying myself over here while others work their asses off. Was expectin' you to sit in some campus several miles away."

Claire: "Don't worry about it."

 

 

Cervantes: "Not that I wouldn't enjoy your company.... quite the opposite, in fact. What do you say, wanna take a pause with me at one of the whirlpools?"

 

 

Claire: *sigh* "You seriously think I'm falling for that? Listen, I've read your CV. Believe me, I keep dumping guys like you in college at least once a month. So if you would please dismiss the idea of hitting on me, that would save both of us a lot of trouble, and a lot of headaches."

Cervantes: "Geez, message received. Stick to your books and computers if that's what you prefer, but I know you're watching me... might put on a show for you later tonight if that's what you're into..."

Claire: *sigh* "Unbelievable. You seriously think I'm into you, do you? Urgh! Disgusting macho."

 

And as such, Claire went upstairs, to her private room, doing the research she was supposed to do.

So that, a week later, she would have a second report to write on...

"The effects of ABH-26 on the human body"

Subject A-2, Week Two

 

Subject has been given a small, initial dosis of one pill per week, to be taken on Monday, 10 AM

The following will lay out in detail the effects that ABH-26 has on Subject A-2's body, behavior and psyche, in comparison to the unmedicated results of the first week.

 

 

A-2s appetite has remained largely unchanged; Natural variations of hunger taken into account, the subject takes in a median of three meals a day, consumed at morning, noon, and evening, with the occasional snack, often consumed in the afternoon.

This very standard level of appetite indicates that ABH-26, in its current dosage, did not influence A-2s appetite whatsoever.

 

 

As outlined in the previous report, A-2 likes to spend part of his time playing video games, especially in the afternoon.

This has been observed to find out if ABH-26 changes anything in A-2s reaction time, strategic thinking or hand-eye coordination.

However, it has been requested that A-2 sticks to playing a particular set of video games, for easier comparison.

In a game called "Mech Invaders", A-2s average score after a level has changed from 2224 to 3191.

It is currently uncertain whether this can be attributed to the effects of ABH-26, or simply a learning or skill curve.

Intensified observation is recommended, though currently, this raises questions about opportunities for military applications.

 

 

A-2s sleeping patterns remain largely unchanged.

As outlined in the previous report, A-2 stated that he used to drink a bit of alcohol before going to sleep, though this has been prohibited for the length of the study due to fear of unforeseen and potentially critical side effects of ABH-26 in combination with alcohol.

This, in turn, had the side effect of insomnia for A-2, which has still been observable all throughout the second week.

Going forward, results will indicate whether or not ABH-26 can be used as a soporific, or a stimulant.

This may open up new possible applications for commercial use.

 

 

This brings me to my next point; Sexual activity and stamina.

If ABH-26 were to be used as a stimulant, this would obviously include the possibility of it being used as an aphrodisiac as well, even if just for stamina purposes.

For this purpose, I have subjected myself to a field test to see if A-2s sexual activity and appetite can change as a result of ABH-26.

Said test was conducted on Monday, when effects of ABH-26 would still be relatively low, with another test intended for next monday.

It should be noted that A-2 had a relatively intense sexual appetite before his first dosage - though given what we know about the subject, this is not an unusual state.

When I approached A-2 with the intention of intercourse, he was surprised, but willing.

 

 

Cervantes: "...heh. So much for the 'disgusting macho', eh?"

Claire: "Don't get the wrong idea. The parameters have merely changed."

 

 

Cervantes: *sigh* "Do you always talk like you have a stick up your butt? Cause I can imagine something else to fit there..."

Claire: "Just shut up."

 

 

At least I won't have to see his stupid face like this...

A-2s sexual performance was surprisingly pleasing.

His preference for Anal Sex, though possibly coincidental, should be noted, as it may indicate changes in reproductive desire.

I fear I may have intervened too late, as a comparison between before and after may have been more easily measurable with another field test.

Nevertheless, I believe with future field tests, a trend will occur nonetheless, should ABH-26 cause any effects on sexual behavior.
