She probably should've carried a big ass sword on her back, even if she has no clue how to use it, it sends a message. ^^

See... she foolishly gave over her sword and shield to the innkeep who offered to "have them delivered to the room"... low and behold they were on the market stalls the next day!

Good advice to most adventurers (mages partially exempted) from a 30+ years DM. Do not stay at an inn where you've to give up your weapons to the bouncer for safekeeping/keeping the peace. No matter how upscale the establishment seems to be, the DM probably has a dastardly plan (and just to lull you in, the first 2 or 3 times this happens all might go well, until it doesn't. ^^)
