New QAYL Tats

All right. More "tat" singular at the moment.

I know a bit more about tat-making than I did when I started making tattoos for QAYL, so I'm going to give them an overhaul over the next few weeks.

 

I'm also going to do something that a lot of folks have asked for and consolidate the tats a little. At least, I'm going to combine the three separate ass-tats into one. The belly tat will still need to be separate, and trying to consolidate the Meat Stamp is probably going to be more trouble than it's worth, but this approach is going to free up a couple of slots.

 

The price for this is that the player is always going to start out #4 in Team Cunt. Then again, that was always going to happen anyway, once the races start, so not a lot lost there.

 

I'm still planning to make the individual bits available as unlocked separates if anyone wants to use them recreationally :)

I'm trying to make them so they look friendly and reassuring to potential attackers. Just in case they were feeling a bit shy or anything.

I actually like the idea of the meat stamp being totally permanent. A brand, more than a tattoo. In my mind, I didn't have a daedric "curse" inked onto my skin so much as burned into the skin.

 

The consolidation of the butt tats is a good idea, but I wouldn't combine them with the belly. If people want to remove the tattoos, I'd just recommend giving one bottle of tattoo remover, and then making a quick quest to get another one. Something simple, like use the vanilla radiant system to put the bottle in a chest in some random dungeon somewhere, and then have a local innkeeper or something know where to get another. Make it possible to remove the tattoos, but not a freebie, is my opinion.

 

Or, just depend on people using Remove Your Tats mod. That's what I use. :)

Yeah, agreed on all points, really.

 

The main reason for the consolidation is to free up some tat slots. QAYL's always been a bit greedy in that regard. The belly's going to remain separate - still too many permutations to deal with. (I suppose I could write an imagemagick script...)

 

And the Meat Stamp is going to be separate as well. I think of it as burned into the player's soul. The tattoo is just the physical reflection of that marking. Which is one reason why it's going to be so hard to remove.

Indeed, I like the brand thing being permanent as wel. 

I no longer use my main character for adult mods, but I did play QAYL with her once, so she is still at the mercy of that brand. Every now and then I take her to the cage for some relief :P

These are brilliant; are these going to be added to the main file, or should we just swap them in from here? I can't wait! :)

They're going to be added in. They need a bit of coding support though. Currently the rosettes, team name and number are all separate tats. These are going to be all-in-one to free up a couple of slots.

I did a higher res version of the meat stamp ages ago as I kept putting it on characters long after QAYL, I tried to give it a bit of a bevel so it would look more raised instead of a tattoo. (well as close as I could make it trying to find a sharper original image to work from)

I think I've still got the Inkscape vectors kicking around somewhere. I'm sure I saw them the other day.

I had a look. I couldn't find the original file (which is a pain since there's other stuff in the same drawing) but I managed to find a copy in another doc. It;s vector graphics, so it'll zoom to whatever size without loosing quality. 

 

Nice work, by the way. I probably should have opened with that, right? :)

happy to help with illustrator or photoshop if you need it. Hope you'll be doing your textures at least 2K this time and nice anti aliased edges
