Answering to some strange people.

Since the release of COtR, I have had some very strange and unpleasant conversations in a discord PM on the Nexus  etc. I apologize for such content on my blog, but this seems to be the easiest way to end this debate. I will speak out about this one time and I will not discuss it anymore.

And sorry for my "beautiful" english.

It's about the Patreon page. I let it all go on the brakes, but recently it happened again. Moreover, from several sides at once. Maybe I'm the only one so "lucky", but I'm already sick of it.

Conventionally, the essence of the claims against me can be divided into two parts

1. Some kick me for a page on patreon and a desire to cash in on modding
2. Others, on the contrary, complain about the fact that I make my content available to everyone while they expect from me that
my content will be exclusive to patrons.

I'll start with the second claim: no, my content will not be exclusive. It will be available to everyone. If this does not suit you, you can not support me. It is your right and
I respect this

Why do I insist on the openness of my content? Let me tell you two interesting facts from my life. As you might have figured out from the things I do, I'm far from new to modding.
Yes, I have been creating mods for LE for many years. These were large-scale projects, but for closed communities and for money.

First case

Not so long ago, an interesting story happened to me. Its about one girl lived in the house opposite. Then she turned 20. At the age of 12, she got into a car accident and was unable to walk. Sometimes her brother took out her in a wheelchair to the courtyard to get some fresh air, and once we accidentally struck up a conversation between us. She told me her story and casually mentioned that her only salvation is one game in which she runs away from the world to catch her breath, but her computer has broken and now she is very upset. I asked what kind of game it was and she said Skyrim.

At the time, I was making pretty good money, and with a few of my friends, we chipped in to her for a new computer. We brought a gift to her home, installed the game. When I told her that we are all obsessed on Skyrim too and even make mods for it, she asked us to help her with the compilation. We agreed, but were very surprised that the compilation we did was based on mods from LL. I asked her why? She said that it was for her the only way to be a normal woman. She then complained that some of her favorites mods work poorly and not the way she wants, and some are only available on Patreon.

She turned to several modmakers with a request for help, but no one wanted to bother too much, and she was ashamed to explain her situation to them. She simply did not have the money for a paid order. We could easily solve all her problems and gladly helped with the necessary mods. To say that she was happy - just say nothing.

A few months later, she and her brother sold the apartment and moved to live elsewhere. We met again only five years later. By chance. She was without a wheelchair. Beautiful, healthy,
able to walk again. I was just shocked by this. We talked for a long time then and she told me what happened. The doctors told her that she would never be able to walk and that treatment and support would cost too expensive for her family. In desperation, she looked for a way out. A way to distract herself. And she found it in the game, where she ran away from the nightmare of her reality. When her computer broke down she was desperate and didn't know what to do next. Our help was literally a miracle for her. And thanks to the mods that my friends and I made for her, she was determined to return to her normal life again and health. Contrary to all diagnoses and doctors' conclusions. After several years of torment, struggle and search, she still managed to heal herself and find a normal life again.

Skyrim and several sexlab mods gave her a motive to fight for herself and her life. For the right to live it fully and feel like a normal woman not only in the game but also in reality,
and the sincere desire of several guys to help her without giving a damn about money made it possible.

Second case.

One friend of mine is a psychotherapist. He works with various sexual problems. We often discuss these points since I, too, had a serious relationship with psychology only criminal. And then one day he told me that he introduced into his practice one interesting method - play therapy. He uses computer games to solve a variety of psychological problems of his clients and especially Skyrim helps him in this. I will not go into the details of this conversation but the very fact that Skyrim and sex mods can be used to helping people psychologically surprised me very much. Nevertheless, according to the expert, it works and is very effective. And many people with access to these mods manage to solve their problems on one's own.

Then I was engaged in modding exclusively for money or only for myself, but after the two events described above in my life, I decided that all my content would be available to everyone.
Who knows how many more people like that girl? Maybe this will not be the only time that a couple of mods have changed someone's life for the better. Maybe some of my work will allow someone to decide their problems, and even just to distract from troubles.

Is it worth the risk of losing a few bucks? Several hundred? Thousand? For me - yes.

Yes, we can also mention the aspect that in many ways such content can be dangerous. It's right. But take a hammer for example. You can build with it a house or you can break a couple of skulls. Everything in this world depends not on things or possibilities, but on the will and intentions of a particular person.

Now about why I create my Patreon page.

I had my own small business, which fully covered all my money needs. But after all this story with C19, its no longer exists. What I worked for 15 years went to dust and it is not possible to restore all this. I'm not used to giving up and looking for new options, but it takes a lot of time and effort, and the current realities complicate everything additionally. I love Skyrim and will definitely not stop playing and creating mods.

So Patreon gives me some interesting possibilities:

1. Little hope that modding can become my main job as well. It would be great. I hadn't thought about it before because earning money was not a problem.

2. This is an opportunity to make my mods better: to buy licenses (3d max, photoshop, substains ... interactive licenses for DAZ content, as I did with COtR and I am doing now with statues). I would also like to purchase a commercial license for ZBrush and learn how to work in it (and this also costs money). Now it is very difficult for me to afford it with an earnings of $ 400 a month for a family with 4 people. So Patreon can seriously help with this.

3. Time and motivation. Support on Patreon buys me and people like me our main resource - time and motivation. And this gives us the opportunity to take a break from our main job and create content for you.

These reasons seemed obvious to me, but apparently, for some people, the reasons should be voiced.

My bigeest thanks to all who supports me (on Patreon or with good words and likes in forum threads).  Sorry again for this in my blog. Hope these words will be enought for explanation.

Great post, well said! Sometimes you've gotta push past the money and recognition first in order to figure out for yourself why you're really doing anything. I'm glad you found your reason ?
