Frustration, act one

So, it's been around 10 hours since I first booted up CK. Let's see how far I got (hint: not far at all).

I created a google doc to write down any ideas I have, set out some ideas for quest stages, etc. and jot down anything I can come up with. Good idea, I thought.

So far I added the story of the mod/s, some ideas for quest stages and info on maybe repeating some stages as to keep the mod as clutter free as can be (I have no idea, of course^^). The name of the mod has been decided too! Naming is always harder than anything, right? Wrong! The name was the easiest so far^^

Now, back to the CK, follow a tutorial for creating a quest that get's activated by courier and think about conditions to start later. Easy enough, just follow along. First snag, I couldn't edit the source of the first ever script I added to the first stage. Hmmm... strange, right?

Next problem, as soon as I found out how to put a condition to start the quest in, error messages! All over!

Okay, no problem, think about it later, go on, save the mod and try to find a solution to the problem with conditions. Saving, naming, window was gone, quest was gone, what happened? Oh, I should have started CK, opened data and ticked on Skyrim.esm? Why wasn't I told anywhere in any tutorial? *sigh*

Next try, same problems again, can't edit scripts, nothing works as advertised.

Go grocery shopping, cook something, make sure the fam is fed and everything and back to work.

Meanwhile, I was so frutrated that I checked some other videos, read sme blogs and basically goofed around the webs for a while on and off while CK started up again, was closed again, loading Skyrim, remove CK, reinstall CK etc.

Finally, I decided I had to have done something wrong and tried to follow one of the tutorials from the official CK wiki, where you put an activator in a random cell, attach a script that has a window pop up with some message as soon as you activate the... um, activator^^

And what do you know, IT DIDN'T WORK!!! Because, the pop up error window told me helpfully, the extends script doesn't exist. wut?

So, finally I asked Dr. Google for help.

I don't know who is responsible for that, Bethesda, Steam, myself for being stupid?

Apparently, there was an update a few years back that put the loose papyrus source files into a .rar and to get anything script going you have to unpack that and put into the script folder and... just.... *frustrated grumbling*

That's ten hours wasted with nothing to show for it. Back to the drawing board.

Best thing? I wrote a nice not for the courier to deliver, it was just creepy enough to raise a few tiny flags but could have been just awkwardness because reasons, nothing too bad yet. And it's gone because I didn't put it in my doc for future reference or something. Never again! Whatever notes I'm going to write from now on get's written down there first and then maybe copied to CK to craft a nice note. *weary sigh*
