More Mad Science

Perhaps you remember the Mad,Mad, Science post I did a few days back? The irony of that build was that I never got to use the actual interceptor! My game came down with a bad attack of the Infinite Loading Screens right afterwards. Clearly all this ill-advised Institute Science placed too great a strain on the fabric of space and time and the Universe crashed as a result. Perhaps there really are Things Man Was Not Meant To Know.

Have I learned my lesson? Hell no! Things were just starting to get interesting.

I'm building at Mercer Safehouse again, which time around just happens to be at Outpost Zimonja. I thought I'd start with a solid foundation.

I'm actually trying to play some attention to the physics here, you'll notice. Not a whole hell of a lot of attention, but I thought it might be nice if it had a leg at each corner rather than one concrete pile whose sole purpose was to keep the platform from floating away.

It's going to dwarf the pre-existing Zimonja buildings.

Some time later, and the major components are in place

One failing in the previous build which I'm working to rectify was the relative shortage of gratuitous T&A. So I thought I'd put a row of naked slaves behind Tom's console.

image.png

This slaves necessitated by the science of course. It's all very complicated, but basically, they're needed to balance out fluctuations in the neutron flow.

I tried explaining this to Curie:

I think she's in awe of my scientific acumen.

Anyway, the Interceptor is functional, in theory, right now. I say in theory because Tom won't stop nagging me to get on the damn platform, and desdemona keeps rabbiting on about Patriot and generally wasting my time. Any true engineer will appreciate that if this is to have any chance of success, it has to be a lot sexier and a lot more blinged up.

So that's what I'm going to do. I'll let you know how I get on.

[edit]

I love the little Desdemona in that last shot. Wandering around, baffled by all the tech, and waiting impatiently for Agent Professor to get off his ballistic-weave ass and go infiltrate the Institute. I hope she brought a novel - I still have stuff to do.

A large part of that stuff is acquiring sluttage for the T&A component. This is what I saw fast traveling back from one such mission/

It's starting to take shape. But I did wonder if the defences could be improved a little. So I thought maybe to continue the glass-and-metal theme

(That floating structure up above? That's going to be the VIP box. I wanted to set up an area where I could have a good view of the facilities and maybe arrange a few creature comforts. It's a WIP, much like everything else in Zimonja).

Anyway... I didn't think that looked all that impressive.  So I added another storey to it. And some flags. And some more guns.

The only trouble here is that it hides the electric blue crackle from the Beam Interceptor. Worth it though.

You know that Zimonja Settlement Defense quest where Supermutants spawn down in the valley and come charging up to assautlt the settlement? I think they're going to struggle here. I don't generally look forward to supermutant raids, but in this case I'll make an exception. (Not to self: move fast travel target inside the gates!)

Here's a quick shot of me breaking in one of the volunteers before she gets chained into one of the display rack

Recruiting is going slow-but steady. I've been trying not to go overboard on the slave count (until now, obviously) so there's still quite a few raider nests I can hit. I picked up this pair of Racoon Girls in USAF Olivia:

I hadn't even started my celebrity glasshouse at this point. As usual Ack-Ack gets the privilege of being the first one on display. Here I am explaining to her what her new duties will be.

image.png

Was that clear, Ack-Ack, or do I need to go over it again?

Here's one of her crew. Not particularly plot relevant, but I though it made a good picture

Testing out the view from the VIP platform. Darla immediately moved to photobomb me

image.png

OK - Ack-Ack wasn't the first celebrity slave from this campaign; I have Darla and a female courser from Greentech, but I'm keeping them as duck funkeys. I'll find them slots in the Glass House once I tire of them. Here they are along with Ack-Ack. If they're going to insist on being in the shot, might as well make it a decent one.

Here's the view without random totty cluttering it up

image.png

Definitely getting there.

I set up some temporary storage to keep the livestock from getting underfoot. The last thing you want when working so high off the ground is to have some follow push you unexpectedly.

image.png

I added Darla and Z2-47 to the collection. Curie was harder to keep out of the way, so I got one of the slavegirls to distract her.

image.png

So far it seems to be working.

Still a load more to do. I'll wrap this session up with a shot of the girls down by the main Beam Doodad. This being before I tied them all up, obviously.

More to come ...
