Part One

The rumbling sound from above ceased, and silence once more filled the dank, damp, dimly lit prison. However its occupant was restless. Rising from her usual seated position, Lucari began to pace back in forth rattling her cages as she did. The smell of new blood was in the air and it was giving her a rush.

Just when she thought she could no longer stand it, she felt a presence in the room but was immediately disheartened. “Just… cattle…” She was sick of their blood. Over theses last few weeks she’d gotten bored of their taste. She wanted something fresh, something… familiar. As always when she began to get such a longing, images of a random Redguard female flashed in her head. The woman was beautiful and Lucari could feel her body get weak at the sight of her, but at the same time… “I wish… to feed…”

The cattle opened the door to Lucari’s cage and walked toward the exit, an odd move for it to make. Tilting her head to the side, Lucari slowly followed her as they headed toward the main hall.

Pt2_Chp11_114.jpg
As soon as they arrived in the main hall, Lucari froze. She could sense three other presences in the hall and their being here confused her greatly. First was her make… her Mistress who would never take the time to meet with her unless it was to degrade her even further. Then she could make out Molag Bal’s Champion but something was off about her, she seemed… mortal. Although abnormal these two weren’t out of place. This third presence however…
Pt2_Chp11_115.jpg
Lucari’s eyes widened and she broke into a run. (She’s here!) There was no basis that this was going to be her mystery Redguard woman, and even when she got close enough to see that it was indeed a Redguard woman there was still the possibility that this wasn’t her. But Lucari knew. Her heart was racing like it had before she was forced to come here when she was traveling with Carciel and—

“Stop right there!”

Lucari came to an immediate at her Mistress’s side at her command. The suddenness of it all made both Lucari and the Redguard blink. (Have I… been trained?)

Pt2_Chp11_121.jpg
“See Redguard? I’ve kept my word.”

“…Halfling,” Lucari said unconsciously. The look her Mistress gave her made Lucari, if she could, go even paler.Pt2_Chp11_122.jpg

Pt2_Chp11_123.jpg
“I’ll let that go…” She smiled towards the Halfling. “Because we have a guest. Now then, what is it that you really want, Redguard?”
Pt2_Chp11_124.jpg
The Halfling rolled her eyes. “I told you I’m here for Lucari. Stop wasting my time and let her come with me or I’ll make you.”
Pt2_Chp11_125.jpg
A chill went down Lucari’s spine that made realize that this Halfing was going to do her Mistress harm, and as much as she despised her, Lucari had been more or less programmed to do everything in her power to prevent that from happening. She stepped in front of her Mistress and glared at their guest. “Dan…gerous…” she said in a low growl.
Pt2_Chp11_126.jpg
“L-Lucari? What’s gotten into you? It’s me. It’s Niyleen—”
Pt2_Chp11_127.jpg
Suddenly the world around her blurred and images of Niyleen Flame-Child rushed before her eyes. Happiness, trust, longing, betrayal, these emotions and more began to fill her up until only specific images of her began to appear. Thief, liar, betrayer! Kill her… Kill the Halfling!Pt2_Chp11_128.jpg

Part Two

Niyleen grew furious at Lucari’s screams. Pointing her weapon at Teresa she said, “What in Oblivion did you do to her?”
Pt2_Chp11_129.jpg
“Me?” the vampire said coyly. “I’ve done nothing at all.”
Pt2_Chp11_130.jpg
“Lies!” Niyleen pointed at Lucari who was still howling in pain. “Damn you vampire!” She stepped toward her. “I’m going to rip your head from your—”

“Ah-ah-ah!” Teresa said waving her finger. “It’d be in your best interest if you didn’t move from that spot.”

“Or else what? You’re gonna kill me? I’ll send you to the afterlife fi—”
Pt2_Chp11_131.jpg
Without warning Lucari jumped on Niyleen and pinned her to the ground. The suddenness of it made Niyleen let out a yelp. “L-L-Lucari!?! What are you…” she stopped her sentence short as she saw the frenzied look in her comrade’s eyes, the anxiousness in her breathing, the hunger dripping from her lips. Niyleen had seen this before. Her words weren’t going to get through to her now, Lucari had gone feral.

Pt2_Chp11_135.jpg
“Damn,” Teresa said coming over to the pair. “This is NOT what I expected. I knew she’d become hostile towards you because of your threats, but going all the way back to feral? And NOT channeling that hatred towards me? This couldn’t have gone better.” She kicked Niyleen’s sword away and smiled at her again. “Look, this would make for a boring ending, both you and I know this, but at the same time I wouldn’t be adverse to kick starting a new cycle here and now. What would that be? The fifth?”
Pt2_Chp11_136.jpg

Pt2_Chp11_137.jpg
“Fif—why are you toying with me,” Niyleen said with an annoyed look on her face. “Just end this if you’re going to—”
For the love of—do you remember nothing! Screw that false bravado! Do you NOT remember the Second’s words?
(What is she talking about?) The Second had said many things, but nothing of note came to mind.
Pt2_Chp11_138.jpg
“Why so silent all of a sudden?” Teresa ribbed. “Having second thoughts?” Niyleen’s silence made this all the more enjoyable for the vampire. “I haven’t eaten in a while, and blood such as yours would definitely sate my appetite.”

Niyleen sucked her teeth. “So you creatures do indeed enjoy playing with a meal. I knew you were baser than your clothing lets on.”
Pt2_Chp11_139.jpg
Teresa glared at the Halfling and snapped her fingers. At once Lucari released Niyleen and stood by her Mistress’s side. “A meal? You’re just meat that can’t be sampled just yet. An unattainable appetizer is more like it.”
Pt2_Chp11_140.jpg
Niyleen got to her feet and noticed how Lucari’s eyes never left her. “What is this? What game are you playing?”
Pt2_Chp11_141.jpg
Teresa grinned. “It’s not a game, just a challenge. Unlike Boethiah and Meridia—”

“What’s Meridia have to do with any of this?”

Teresa rolled her eyes and ignored her. “Molag Bal’s Champion will not stoop to ambushing you. We’ve more class than that.” Niyleen rolled her eyes, but Teresa continued, “Seeing as you’ve made a mess of that half-assed Champion,” she said pointing to Sevetia. “I believe that it’s time for my Lord to receive a new Champion. One who is stronger, better, faster. One who is one of his own.”
Pt2_Chp11_142.jpg
“Niyleen laughed. “Who? You? I can take you easy as—”
Pt2_Chp11_143.jpg
“As always you believe that it is I who you will take on. I know my Lord’s will and will not go against it. And as always you will go against someone who is important to you.” Teresa’s grin widened as she saw Niyleen’s face reflect her realization. “Once you faced your most trusted comrade, once it was your best friend, and once it was your sister. Now, it will be the woman you have feelings for. Rejoice as once again you…” Teresa paused and looked upwards as if looking for something. “Y-yeah, I… I apologize, my Lord. Forgive me for my impertinence. Now…” She returned her attention to Niyleen. “I’ll give you a month. It would be in your best interests to say your goodbyes within that time.” And with a flick of her wrists, Teresa banished Niyleen from the castle.

“FUCK!” Niyleen shouted as she banged on the entrance that she knew would be forever shut to her. (This isn’t what I wanted! This isn’t—)

Hi thesk vok! Hi thesk vok volzah! The Second told you ONE thing to remember, one thing NOT to do and you go ahead and screw everything up.

Niyleen punched the door, but couldn’t put any strength behind it. Lucari was gone, she’d failed, and now in a month’s time the two of them were to fight to the death. “I can’t do this…”

Nii dreh ni trun. Bo hofkiin! Go back to that damn lair! Don’t tell me you forgot Teresa’s words so soon?

Niyleen thought back and suddenly it came to her. ‘It’s not a game, just a challenge. Unlike Boethiah and Meridia—’ Niyleen bit her lips and wiped her eyes. Now wasn’t the time to lament over what she couldn’t change, it was time to prevent anything else from happening to the ones she loved. And so after taking a minute to gather herself, Niyleen rushed off towards Whiterun.Pt2_Chp11_155.jpg
