TODAY I GOT BANNED FROM THE NEXUS AND I GOT SO PISSED FCK!

Nexus is crawling with ripped armours and clothing. Where did the modder get permission to put Halo armour in an Oblivion mod? Is anything said? Action taken? Nah!

They even have an Iron man and Avengers mod. Now, many years ago Dave Sim did a parody of the, then popular Wolverine mini series in his excellent publication Cerebus. Now it's not supposed to be an infringement of copyright in the case of satire and parody. Yet a letter from Marvel's legal department was sent to Dave Sim threatening legal action. Later Marvel backed off from their "We'll sue" stance and peace was made.

However since these are major brand names in the movie world as well as the comic one, If Marvel wanted to, they could wipe Nexus off the face of the earth.

Yet here we have a keen lass who made every effort to obtain permissions. Who finds herself banned for breaking some half baked rule (if only in the mind of an over zealous moderator).

This stinks! As for the downright stupid slander toward LL...unusually words fail me.

At least with LL, what you see is what you get.

Is Nexus collectively blind to it's blatant double standards?

I also used to read though a lot of the comments/endorsement pages and have been constantly dismayed at the abusive, rude and downright nasty comments that folk put there. No modder should have to put up with crap like that, ever! Seems to me that reporting the talent has turned into a sport for those selfsame abusive individuals. As long as Nexus tacitly supports bad behaviour and allows moderaters like that idiot who banned mailamea10 with no fair appeals procedure, then they are simply banging nails into Nexus' coffin.

Now that I'm not at work and can post on a computer, let me elaborate a little.

 

The Vampire Dante banned me on Nexus on my original account after somebody released "shojo" variants of Cass and Veronica. These essentially made the faces look like some kind of weird aliens with the bodies of 12 year old girls... which were strippable. My natural response, because creating a situation that could be pedophile fodder in combination with the right mods (Workgirl, in this case) isn't cool, I posted "Is 'shojo' Japanese for pedophile?" I guess Dante either loves playing dressup with pre-pubescent girls or is a pedophile, because he typed in all caps that you can't accuse people of such things, then he banned me.

 

The guy the picture has of himself in his Nexus profile pretty much confirms that he's a fucking douchebag. I'd imagine he's a spineless weasel in real life who doesn't amount to much if he has enough time to troll the Nexus all day looking to ban people who cause him offense.

 

My only regret posting this is Dante is too busy either getting pegged in the ass with a strapon by a 500 pound woman or torturing a little girl in his rape dungeon to read this.

Nice thing about this forum and mod community Loogie, is that we have ADULTS here, not kids playing head tripping power games. We cuss, discuss, piss, moan, bitch about life in general and Nexus in particular, but we all get along with a sense of community and shared responsibility that keeps the kinds of conflicts that Nexus has down to an absolute minimum with no fuss, no bother. I am honored to be a part of this community and hope it will last as long as people want to play Oblivion and similar games modded our way.

I should specify that I haven't been banned...yet. I had a (mostly) civil argument with Dante and never got an official warning, although I'm bound to be on the radar now. My take is that I don't want to act like the 5-year olds that the Nexus seems to attract nowadays, even though it's tempting sometimes. I could have argued on many loopholes and double standards, but amusingly the Nexus has a "argue with the mods and you get banned" rule. It's a business enterprise and they don't want drama, free speech, yada yada. All they want you to do is obey and buy a subscription.

 

Hell, the only reason for buying a subscription is because you're impatient and don't know how to open a new browser tab when those ads come up before downloads start.

As for Nexus banning things and people, I've always found their actual rules too idiosyncratic to follow. Seems to be 'post something and you might get banned but you may not understand why. There seems to be little I'd call consistency.

A ban was maybe over the top, but it's nothing that came out of the blue imo. You basically insulted everyone who used/downloaded the shojo race mod. Not cool, if you ask me.

The way my comment was worded, it was directed to the modder. The post got a bunch of people giving it positive rep. And it was out of the blue - no warning, no PM, the only notification I had was Dante going emo in his response post. I didn't even get the opportunity to talk it out. To be a productive modder and help a bunch of people and then get banned over one comment with the parting shot "begone troll" (Dante's parting words) is fucking bullshit no matter how you slice it. Trolling is a pattern of behavior, which is not a pattern I had, and prior to the incident I had absolutely no run-ins with the mods whatsoever. Dante was just being ban happy because he's a sad man who can be ban happy - if he'd taken four seconds to see who I was he'd realize I'd been a Nexus member in good standing for over two years at that point.

When you say "Is shojo the japanese word for pedophile?" that's an insult to everyone who uses the shojo mod, doesn't matter if that was your intention or not.

 

Another point is that your opinion doesn't matter, if I may be so blunt. You don't run the site so you can't force your view on others. If it is okay with the site owner there isn't much you can do about that, other than leaving the community.

 

As far as trolling goes, well, you could have certainly a bit more intelligent about how you've handled that matter. Instead of insulting (and that's what you did, even if that wasn't your intention) some folks you could have just told your opinion in a civil way. Like I said, banning you is over the top, but with that kind of behavior you shouldn't really be surprised of the consequences.

And don't tell me I insulted everyone when I insulted a specific class of people - everything up until that point I'd seen named "shojo" looked like it was bordering on kiddie porn, and there are a lot of pedos hiding behind that foreign word to excuse their behavior. Of course, not everyone who uses that mod uses it for sexual kink, but a certain class of people who my comment was obviously directed at does. They weren't nude by default. But all that it took to do so was going into their inventory and removing the clothes they came with.

 

While I understand the base shojo model on Nexus probably isn't a nude one, but most of the screenshots I see of them use Type 3 bodies. And considering all the sex mods use Cass and Veronica, one's mind doesn't need to travel far to figure out what a mod like that caters to.

 

But let's put a positive spin on this and educate me. What possible appeal is there to playing Fallout as a child character, and taking it to the next step of making a shojo race full of skimpy outfits to do it if it's not about sexual kink? I've seen screenshots of these shojos running around in PE dresses and raider armor and using scaled down Type 3 bodies so they become obviously naked when stripped. If it's not pedophilia, then what is it?

What I meant is, if they don't come with the body texture clothed, they are nude by default.

There are nude Shojo's on Nexus, yes... hell, there was (might still be... I'm not going looking for it) a least one for NV that changed every character into a Shojo, and made them all use standard child bodies with any body texture you installed. (Something I believe they had to deliberately do... by default NV does not use adult textures on child bodies)

I didn't question your intelligence, I just said you could have done it in a better way. Sometimes smart people do dumb things, simple as that. I don't know if you are an intelligent person or not, and to be perfectly honest, I don't really care.

 

A warning would have been futile, considering your statement that you don't want to be civil towards people who you consider to be not worthy.

 

Just to remind you, I am neither defending the nexus staff nor blaming you, I am just stating my opinion on that matter. Which is, that I think some sort of action against you was justified.
