crybabyninja Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 I love using the frostmer race but the devious devices dont fit on the race right. Any ideas how to fix this? Everything i installed is for cbbe body type. Not sure what body type frostmer is.
Sarge Misfit Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 All I can recommend is run batch build in bodyslide
SleepyJim Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 I've never heard of that race, but if it has its own body you should be able to drop in meshes to replace it if you examine its folder structure. The meshes might also need to be edited with nifskope to point to the race's body textures. CBBE and UNP textures aren't fully compatible though, so if it uses a UNP-based body and you replace the meshes with CBBE, you'd need to change the textures as well.
crybabyninja Posted May 16, 2018 Author Posted May 16, 2018 Im not sure how to do any of that. https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/37592/?tab=files this is the race im using tho if that helps.
SleepyJim Posted May 16, 2018 Posted May 16, 2018 Ah, I searched for "Frostmer."  I can't see anything in the description or comments that says what body type it uses. Basically, if a custom race has its own body meshes then it likely won't match whichever body you have installed for everyone else. In that case a custom race female PC will have a different body shape to every other female character in the game. When you build outfits in bodyslide (like you need to do for devious devices) you'll probably be building them to fit the general body you have installed, which means the outfits will fit NPCs but not the PC. The easiest way to have them fit everyone is to examine the folder structure of the race mod, find where it has its body, hands and feet meshes, and replace them with the ones you use for everyone else.  The vanilla location for the body meshes is Data\meshes\actors\character\character assets. In that folder CBBE will have installed the following:  femalebody_0.nif femalebody_1.nif femalefeet_0.nif femalefeet_1.nif femalehands_0.nif femalehands_1.nif  If you can find where the race mod has files of those names you can copy and paste the CBBE ones in to replace them. That might be enough to work, although it looks as though the race has wings, which might complicate things. And as I said, the race's body textures might not be compatible with CBBE. The only thing to do is try and see how it looks.
crybabyninja Posted May 16, 2018 Author Posted May 16, 2018 Seems the frosmer race only has bsa and esp files in it. Honestly, if i could find body tattoos that look like the ones from this race, i would use another race and just add the spells to a different race.
SleepyJim Posted May 17, 2018 Posted May 17, 2018 You can peek inside a bsa, or extract it, using something like BAE. (That's on the SE Nexus, but works perfectly for classic Skyrim as well.) With that tool installed you can double click any bsa and have a look at what's inside it. You can then choose if and where to extract it, and which parts to extract. At the very least it will allow you to see if the race does indeed include its own body, hands and feet meshes, and where they are. You could then create a loose folder structure of your own to drop in replacements that would overwrite the originals without touching the bsa itself.
