Polyamorous trait does nothing

Sims don't autonomously engage in sex with non-partners if they have the Polyamorous trait, if they are in a relationship. The Autonomy Specific trigger 'Relationship Awareness Switch' claims that those with Polyamorous already ignore relationship fidelity, but in practice, they don't act upon it, unless 'Relationship Awareness Switch' is turned off.

 

In fact, sims don't even seem to even attempt to engage autonomously in sex, or request it, unless the one they're asking is sure to assent.

I can assure you that the Polyamorous and Commitment Issues traits work as intended. You probably just assumed that after some time but autonomy is random, you don't know when Sims will decide to do something.

And yes, Sims don't walk around asking everybody just to get rejected, they magically know the other Sim will agree.
