a few Days ago i recieved this :

Hi, My name is Matthew Bailey. I am a head content creator and developer at Valve(Dota2, CsGO and Battlefield) and I am also managing team Secret Dota2. @cyborgmatt is my twitter account.

We actually have a requirement of staff. If you are interested in such thing I need to know how precise and how time-savvy content creator you are, there are not many games which encourages custom contents hence we have sims platform as our first choice. I've seen your profile and your work seems really good. If you are interested I will give you some raw photos to create sim (atleast 3) from it, you can use any of custom contents you want all we want is your precision and speed. If you are interested reply me back.

 - The job u have to do is completely online

 - Wages will be discussed if you get selected from the content u create.

Have a Good day,

Cyborgmatt.

At first i was a little ... confused because that would be a little unusual for "Valve" to recruit via PM´s on LL, right ?

But i replied, asking which game we are talking about in particular and which platform. Also told him that im able to work fast and good but never used templated.

The answer to my reply:

" We are talking about sims 4 here. "

Well, im not sure about this. Mostly because i´ve never posted anything about Sims4 except a troubleshooting for broken CC (I had the issues)

I´ve got the feeling that, if i would agree, i´d get an invite to some site to create an account there and to login so they´d get my info.

---

Question is, have you had the pleasure recieving something similar ? or maybe the very same ?

What´ya think about this ? reviewing the stuff below i think thats someone that would trick other´s into creating stuff for him, would make sense because the "Send you raw photos" so i could create stuff for him...

i will censor his name with "Guy" for now.

No game development company will ever recruit this way, nor would they be caught dead allowing a representative to have incorrect grammar, spelling, shortcut words ("u" instead of "you", for example), etc. in an official communication beyond Twitter.  No game development company will ever ask you to create new works prior to signing a contract and negotiating payment, they'll just ask for a portfolio and CV.

Valve doesn't own Battlefield, nor do they own The Sims.  Those are both owned by EA, and are developed by DICE and Maxis, respectively.

Someone is trying to get you to divulge personal information and/or trying to get free work (personal requests) out of you.  Report them!

I actually think he doesn´t care about my info at all. I guess he needs people that create stuff for him.

I will inform a few people tho -

If it was me personally, i'd see where this little rabbit hole leads and just go along with it until you get to the "catch" because there's always a catch eventually. If they ask you to make Sims 4 characters and they'll discuss "wages" later just say you'd like to get paid upfront so you get paid and they get some characters. (Seems like a win win.)

Obviously if they ask for personal information then that'd be the time to end it....Or, give them fake, random information and really go deep inside that hole. (Eww?)

Maybe he just sent out a mass message to a bunch of random people hoping one would bite and make him some characters. (Not sure why they can't do it themselves though.)

On the other hand if i hear about a Valve developer getting fired for being on LL during work hours i am going to flip my shit.

Whenever i read about some like this i always think of this video. Gets me every time.

It is scam for sure.

Also because Valve itself has a very strict policy on NDA and on HR.

So just ignore the message.
