crash if "detecting video hardware" and will only play in windowed mode

ok i've been having a issue and i posted over at nexus about it but haven't got any help yet.... so i'm going to try here...

ok, after playing fallout 4 for months now.... i want to go back to skyrim lol, problem is when i try to launch it via steam or nmm it only works in windowed mode.... so i exited and went to the launcher and it tried to "detecting video hardware" and then that crashed and thus crashed the launcher....

please, its bbe a while since i been able to play fullscreen skyrim

Go to SkyrimPrefs.ini and set these parameters:

bFull Screen=0
iSize H=1080
iSize W=1920

Set the "Size" ones to whatever resolution you are using if it's not 1920x1080. That should be it.

thank you VERY VERY much, my game is now somewhat like how it was when it was fullscreen, i can now play skyrim again
