t.ara Posted April 7, 2018 Posted April 7, 2018 How to change the water depth, - it´s collision for the water-depth ! This is a very small workaround for all modders, who want to have a manipulated water depth in skyrim. The problem: If you build up a pool inside a building in the upper floors, you have still the problem, that the character will also swim (start swim and diving animation) on the floor UNDER the pool, but we do of course not want that water downstairs, we want to walk around inside of that roomes instead !!! Otherwise we can now create very, very deep water-files, that are for example helpful if you want to build a deep well or if your mod needs extreme deep water, without letting the area around becoming unusable!!! As what I could see from the files is the collision of a water-activator in cubic order. The depth is usually following the size of the quare of the watersize and by resizing any water inside of Creation Kit, you get always the scaled results. This workaround will be helping to let water-activators become suitable for all your demands. What I tried to do before: I tried to reduce the water into different small parts and paste-copy that small activators together, and: the result is for sure a water without the deep collision-bumper BUT the swimming from one into the next activator is sadly interrupted by a "shake" to the "standing-idle" and looks very, very BAD. Swimming is being activated by the WATER-ACTIVATORS that do come as nif-files inside of the vanilla game. You can easily pick up and rename one suiting file from the .mesh.bsa (after it´s extraction) and rename that wanted file to your mod-folder. You then can edit the nif-file as you see on the pictures and bring it up into the game by using the creation-kit and then you´re done: The pics do show the problem and the steps you have to change inside the NIF-FILE, to solve it. Responsible for the "swimming animation" is the collision of that water file, what we will be changing in this way: I wish you happy new "pool- and water-bassin"- modding! :-))) On the pics you see how close my pool is resisting to the next floor underneath - now no problem anymore ! p.s. last pic show the original file and it´s dimmension of it´s collision (this original file is of course not suiting to my mod!)
