Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 Anyone got any good mods to recomend ? I'm looking for something that adds the ability to found/manage small villages w/o getting involved (other than tribute) with the main factions, I remember there used to be a few that did that but can't find them anymore.
gregathit Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 For what version? All of the mods you could possibly want are still up last time I checked at the taleworlds forum: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/board,165.0.html?PHPSESSID=6tg2c9a7nnsdeh9g09k8s16ii2 In my opinion the best warband mod out there is Prophesy of Pendor: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/board,119.0.html and you can also get it at the nexus as well: http://mountandblade.nexusmods.com/mods/3710/ They do have a version for the original mount and blade too.
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted September 13, 2012 Author Posted September 13, 2012 I don't play warband, don't like all of the changes, still use the original M&B.
gregathit Posted September 13, 2012 Posted September 13, 2012 I don't play warband' date=' don't like all of the changes, still use the original M&B. [/quote'] Personally I am just the opposite. I can't live without the changes. The original M&B mod section is here: http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php/board,63.0.html Standouts were Sword of Damocles, Lords and Realms, and of course The Last Days (the middle earth conversion). As I said before Prophesy of Pendor also had a version for the original M&B.
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted September 13, 2012 Author Posted September 13, 2012 Yeah, I know about the forum, I was mostly asking about mods folks know of as well.
johneb Posted September 14, 2012 Posted September 14, 2012 Wedding Dance is possibly the most awesome M&B mod ever. Light and Darkness Heroes of Calradia is also pretty good and has some interesting features I've not seen in other M&B mods.
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted September 14, 2012 Author Posted September 14, 2012 All I'm looking for is one that expands sandbox aspects along with roleplay ones, one I used to have and apparently didn't back up when I reformatted a few weeks back was very good in that respect. It allowed you to set up a 'camp' with your forces. This camp remained on the map as long as it was inhabited (and for a few ingame weeks if abandoned) and could be upgraded, allowing a decent defenseve position to be placed anywhere for battles..... plus with the upgrades, also it had the ability to turn it into an actual village... WAs fun, not having to go pick a faction, do smaller scale stuff.

Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted September 14, 2012 Author Posted September 14, 2012 Pretty sure that wasn't it, if I remember correctly, if you have a unit or more of the tools item in your inventory then (based on your enginer skill) you can construct a defenseve emplacement and unless your enginer skill is REALLY high, it takes too long to build to ever be used, especially since, if I remember that particular mod correctly, it vanishes when you leave it and it can't be garrisoned. Unless I'm mistaking it for another mod.

Was your encampments inside sort of a barrier/wall of sharpened staves and posts? Anyway, you might also like Custom Settlements. You can build pretty much as huge a city as you like pretty much anywhere on the map.
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted September 15, 2012 Author Posted September 15, 2012 I think I'll get custom settlements then when I get around to reinstalling. Yes the encampments were like that, but I remember finding a few similar mods to the one I'm trying to rediscover, with the differnce being the camps didn't last (and even with enginering skill maxed took too long to build) One I used to have was sweet, because bandits, etc, would attack your fortified camp and get mowed down if you had some ranged units. But thanks for mentioning that custom settlements one, deffinitly gona try it.
gregathit Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 I don't remember which mod(s) they were but some of them (as I remember anyway) included the encampment fortification inside them. I personally modded the build times to be just an hour or so. That way I would stop traveling at a certain time and build the palisade and camp for the night. If any enemies attacked me at night....well they suffered the consequences! I just love how tinkering friendly that all of the M&B games are. You can set things as realistic (or not) as you want them and roll play the way "YOU" want to!
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted September 15, 2012 Author Posted September 15, 2012 Yeah, IIRC my version of the pallisade camp included the ability to pre-fabricate supplies for the camp, and recover them when you break the camp down, reducing build time to a few hours at most, with several weaker stages of fortification between start and the completion of the basic shell.
johneb Posted September 15, 2012 Posted September 15, 2012 http://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?id=1550 I think this is it, man. I believe a few mods have this included as an extra feature. Anyway, tadaaa!
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted September 17, 2012 Author Posted September 17, 2012 FUCK YES! Thanks man, if that's not it it's something very close.
johneb Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 You should try this one. http://www.mbrepository.com/file.php?id=2479
DSXX Posted September 17, 2012 Posted September 17, 2012 Honestly, I've found Floris Mod to be the best. It's like what M&B should've been like. An expansion DLC almost. So many bonus features and additions, but keeps the vanilla flavour of the game without making you think 'This feels and seems very out of place'. Admittedly, I did remove the animations and music though, as I preferred the original music and was far too used to the original animations. Other than that, it's all good. Unless you want something totally different to the vanilla+ experience. Oh, it's for Warband. Technically you should have that anyways. http://forums.taleworlds.com/index.php?board=197.0
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted September 18, 2012 Author Posted September 18, 2012 Yeah, Floris mod kickes ass.
Kashiwaba Tomoe Posted September 22, 2012 Author Posted September 22, 2012 And as closure for the thread, I decided upon the Floris mod linked to above once again, because it rocks.
