doisitrey Posted March 11, 2018 Posted March 11, 2018 I need help in adding time-lapse to videos, the problem I encountered is when I added a time-lapse at a specific point into the vtime-line, right after I wish for it to go back to normal speed, the audio get out of sync for the rest of the video, not to mention I need to add multiple time-lapse to the video, not just one. The program I'm using is DaVinci Resolve, I tried to use other free program out there HitFilm Explress but in the preview window runs very badly so I didn't go to much into that program. I tried to look for guides on Youtube but I didn't managed to find anything that can show me how to sync the audio, most guides out there show how to add time-lapse to video but without sound, or in the rest scenarios, it show how to sync the audio to the video, by adding one, beside my recordings already have the audio into them. Now I did think for other way around this by having the videos play one after the other and each have own time-lapse, but the problem is that I didn't think this through when I made the recordings, and all of them are big ones, +30 GB with over 1 hour, some even 3 hours long, and cutting a 3 hour recording into a zillion parts, well I'm not keen to that idea, maybe I'm missing something, or using the wrong program, or both. This is the first time I ever tried to edit something, so I'm a complete beginner at it, I tried those 2 programs since I just searched "best program to edit videos" on youtube and those ware some of the results. If someone know how to edit the videos, please help me. Now if a different program would be better, please keep in mind that I'm a beginner and a program that require a high learning curve to be used wont help me much, also since I plan to use the videos on Youtube, is very important that the program wont have a watermark if is free. Edit: My pc specs are: Ryzen 1600 / 16 gb ddr4 / ssd evo 850 for windows/applications (recordings are on HDD) / gtx 1060 6gb oc. Now when I said i tried to use HitFilm, the program was running like s**t, maybe because I tried to use files that ware +35 GB at 1080p in 60 fps. ******* EDIT: @bicobus thanks for the reply, did give a shot to that program you mentioned, but it seemed to lack a lot of futures, anyway in the end I found that Shotcut did the job I needed perfectly.
bicobus Posted March 12, 2018 Posted March 12, 2018 If the software runs like shit with giant files it may be a memory issue (not enough of), well you'll have to investigate yourself and see if the OS swap memory to disk. Personally I use openshot to edit video, opensource and fairly competent at what it does. As it is open and has a community it'll be easier for you to find help, especially on their forums. It is apparently a bit slow on windows, but they are working on it.
