Tilde key doesn't work like it used to.

Hey guys and gals,

 

First of all, I appreciate all the help I have had in the past.  You guys and gals rock!

 

Anyway, I have a problem.  I re-started my game right from the beginning and everything was great until I found that 

my tilde (~) key wont bring up the console.  I really wanted to adjust my toon's face in the sunlight, but all it does now is

put a small arrow on the screen and pause the game.

So, I did alot of reading before posting here...I reset my keyboard, reset the games default settings in everything....and it 

still does the arrow-pause thing.  I even updated windows 10 keyboard settings for Canada (where I live).  No dice.  

This is very frustating!

Any ideas?  Maybe its a mod I have???

Are you by chance playing on Survival Mode?  That mode disables the console.

 

If you are using Survival Mode, there are a few mods the restore some functionality (like the console).  I prefer Survival Options, personally.

Well I looked (and changed my settings) from Normal to Easy then back to Normal.  I had read about that might be the case for some, but 

alas, nope it was on normal for my saved game.

Saw a post on this in Reddit - the author noted that adding the switch:  "-console"   (not quotes) to the launch options may resolve the issue.  Others noted that it did indeed work for them.

Is the keyboard Canadian though or is it an import ? You set the keyboard setings to the country setting and layout of your keyboard and not necessarily where you live . For instance , I'm from the UK but one of the keyboards I have is a US import so I have to set the keyboard language to English US when I use that otherwise the @ key and the " key are set wrong ( the " and @ keys are in opposite locations on a US keyboard compared to a UK keyboard ) . So basically , if your keyboard is foreign but it's meant for the country that you buy it in that isn't a problem but if your keyboard is an import with a different key layout to the norm for that country then you have to set the keyboard language accordingly .

Thanks again for all the help guys.  I got it going, looks like.  I basically uninstalled FO4 and then uninstalled all my mods from NMM. Then I re-installed the game 

and then the mods, leaving some of them out.  

 

Now it works!  Time to kill some Death Claws!!
