euphoricWool Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Hi there, you naughty people! A little birdie told me that you might be able to help me with my somewhat weird problem. Sometimes (not totally sure what causes it) my keyboard inputs are delayed, sometimes for a full second, and then are continued as if I keep pressing the key even when I only tapped it. For example I tap A/D when picking a lock and after a delay it keeps turning the lock until my pick breaks and then some. Other situation: When I'm walking backwards while fighting and want to make a run for it, I turn around ready to sprint away, but the S-key input is continued so that walk with my back straight into my opponent (usually causing death). It happens more often when I'm in a fight or other situations with "more action". I noticed that it happens reliably when I get caught pickpocketing or picking a lock while being watched. Apparently getting the NPC's attention is a factor. But in general it happens infrequently and not always in specific situations. Still gamebreakingly frustrating when it happens though. My mouse is completely unaffected and menus don't have any problems either. What I already tried: un-/replug my keyboard, restart PC, let steam validate files, etc... i.e. the usual stuff Disabling v-sync (or setting it to "fast") in the Nvidia control panel Manually disabling v-sync in SkyrimPrefs.ini limiting the frame rate in RivaTuner lowered general settings from "ultra" to "high" and antialiasing from TAA to FXAA just in case it's a performance issue (really shouldn't be) Not sure in which combinations I tried the above, but everything at least once on it's own. When playing an unmodded save it everything works fine. I just don't have the time to go through my modlist and try to find the culprit by trial and error. Do any of you know what mod might cause this? Is the cause something completely different? I just can't go back to vanilla Skyrim!! Help!!! my PC specs i-5 5675C @3.1 GHz 16 GB RAM MSI GTX 980 (4GB) Windows (10) runs from an SSD but to save space I installed Skyrim on a HDD Modlist Spoiler Skyrim.esm=1 Update.esm=1 Dawnguard.esm=1 HearthFires.esm=1 Dragonborn.esm=1 Unofficial Skyrim Special Edition Patch.esp=1 SMIM-SE-Merged-All.esp=1 Audio Overhaul Skyrim.esp=1 Skyrim Flora Overhaul.esp=1 Verdant - A Skyrim Grass Plugin SSE Version.esp=1 Eli_Breezehome.esp=0 Hothtrooper44_ArmorCompilation.esp=1 Ars Metallica.esp=1 Immersive Sounds - Compendium.esp=1 Vivid WeathersSE.esp=1 IcePenguinWorldMap.esp=1 Footprints.esp=1 Hothtrooper44_Armor_Ecksstra.esp=1 Point The Way.esp=1 Immersive Patrols II.esp=1 WetandCold.esp=1 SkyUI_SE.esp=1 BarenziahQuestMarkers.esp=1 UnreadBooksGlow.esp=1 Audio Overhaul Skyrim - Immersive Sounds Patch.esp=1 dD - Realistic Ragdoll Force - Reduced.esp=1 Audio Overhaul Skyrim - Vivid Weathers Patch.esp=1 Vivid Weathers SE - AOS Patch.esp=1 Vivid Weathers - Extended Rain.esp=1 AcquisitiveSoulGemMultithreaded.esp=0 Chesko_LoreBasedLoadingScreens.esp=1 Open Cities Skyrim.esp=1 Immersive Citizens - AI Overhaul.esp=1 Immersive Citizens - OCS patch.esp=1 Alternate Start - Live Another Life.esp=1 CFTO.esp=1 RealisticWaterTwo.esp=1 RealisticWaterTwo - Open Cities.esp=1 Ordinator - Perks of Skyrim.esp=1 Unrelated: I knew that there were some adult mods for skyrim out there, but never expected sooo much and such an active community! dharvinia Posted February 16, 2018 Posted February 16, 2018 Usually this will happen on multimedia keyboards. This is especially true if it is tied into the operating system. I had a beautiful back lit, wireless, keyboard with all types of bells and whistles. I could program the colour of my keys and the intensity, single key multimedia access, etc. It ran great for about the warranty period then started to act up pretty much in the fashion you described. Slow keys, keys that appeared to be non functional, all sorts of mean nasty things. After a ton of troubleshooting, I decided to replace the keyboard with one that had less bells and whistles.....guess what....problem solved. Try another keyboard and see if this is indeed your fix too.
Veladarius Posted February 22, 2018 Posted February 22, 2018 I've have the same thing happen in FO4 on my gaming keyboard, doesn't happen in original Skyrim or any other games. The TAB key also decides to not respond unless I quit and restart from time to time (again, only in FO4 for me as I don't use SSE but they use pretty much the same engine).
scipher99 Posted February 23, 2018 Posted February 23, 2018 This might be a stupid question but have you disabled sticky keys in the OS it might be getting triggered in background.
