-Ok so Separate thread-

The Talis, first and foremost are what this is about.

If I get concept art for any of the others that fits and work on them more I'll make threads for them as well.

A race decscended from ancient dragonlike beasts who were the size of a small building, and with just as much muscle and fury to match. Over time, they grew smaller and more streamlined to match the world they lived in, and to better hunt their prey in the thick forests and jungles.

Now only about the size of a man, they are feared for their rapid speed and viciousness. They hunt as bands, looking for easy prey.

As a people, they seek justice above all else and gladly help those they find are in need or are oppressed or marginalized. And with the civil dispute between the empire and the stormcloak rebellion, many have come out of hiding or come to live in skyrim, taking sides against each other in the bitter war.

General Stats the race would have: Light Armor - 25, Sneak - 20, Speech - 20, Illusion - 20, Alchemy - 20, Two Handed - 20

General Effects the race would have: Greater Power: Berserker Rage (Orc Power) and as a Lesser Power have a Passive 2% increase to Stamina regeneration

To those who aren't interested in the talis, there's also the Kitsune Race. I'm still working out lore for them but generally speaking they're tricksters who want to make a quick buck, manipulating people into trade or otherwise.

The Remikiad, a people of the plains who, in stark contrast to the cellan, would rather sit down and stay where they are. Since they  are actually protoformic shapeshifters they can survive on a diet of almost anything as long as they can convert it into the sugars their body needs to keep cohesion. They're innately magically inclined and live in huge communal groups. They also prefer to be nude, on the whole or wear clothing as status symbols more than fashion.

Think of them like really soft feathery lizards. Geckos with fuzzy patches as it were.

General Stats the race would have: Alteration - 25, Speech - 20, Sneak - 20, Illusion - 20, One Handed - 20, Pickpocket - 20

General Effects the race would have: Greater Power: Regeneration - Consume 50% Magicka and 50% stamina to fully heal instantly. Lesser Power: Immunity - Diseases have 90% less effectiveness and last 90% less time (for diseases that have timers) when infected.

Eilr (Nixies, the Aigris Race, Selkies)

  • Average Height is 4’, Average Weight is 110 lbs
  • Lactose Intolerant
  • Hermaphroditic. Diphallic, average at 6” long and 1½” wide, tapering to ¼” at the tip. Two sets of gonads, one internal, one external. Inside the genital vent is a rudimentary vaginal cavity, followed by a womb. Egg-laying, though some hybridizations are known to birth live young (of course denoting a much longer gestational period).
  • They possess both gills and lungs; lungs are manually collapsible, gills seal up as they dry.
  • Eats mainly meat and high starch vegetables
  • Highly sexual and sensual, wear little clothing; most would say they lack a concept of modesty, when they simply lack a concept of privacy. City Eilr are very provocative and aggressive in acquiring sex, while Wild Eilr are extremely predatory, but very relaxed in courting.
  • Mottled skin, usually steel-blue with beige stripes and spotting
  • Often opt to retreat to grottoes in the winter. Occasionally can be found lazing in bath houses instead.
  • If Wrath from FMA03 were a species, these guys would be that
  • Money has no value to them, but they hoard money because it is shiny.
  • They can bear the children of any of the other races, but they cannot sire by any other race than themselves.
  • Entire skeleton is made not of bone but of very flexible cartilege, covered in a tough membrane. Skeletal injuries heal rapidly, but bleeding wounds tend to ooze for a long time.
  • If the skeletal sac ever ruptures, the Eilr will eventually perish. Their marrow is liquid and keratinizes quickly, which is what lends to their ability to quickly heal fractures and breaks. If the marrow drains into the body’s lacunae it will solidify and bruise the surrounding organs, eventually causing internal haemorrhaging.
  • Slightly higher body temperature than Endern, at around 38-39 degrees Celsius.
  • Love the water so, it’s not so pleasant for them to find homes as they always want to fulfill both being by the water and verdant nature

Haebolg (Bears)

  • Average Height is 10’4
  • Average Weight is 400 lbs
  • Colouration varies by region. Brindled variety very rare.
  • Tend to build fat rather than muscle, but are very strong nonetheless
  • Traditionally hibernate, but do not need to
  • Genitals are comprised by a sheathed penis and three testicles. Penis size averages at 11” long by 3” wide, tapered somewhat in the middle and slightly protruding at the tip. They possess a baculum and are thus always rigid.
  • Intercourse generally lasts between 4-8 hours and is very slow. Haebolg are commonly gentle, particularly so in interracial coupling, and have particular stamina while mating.
  • Spadelike vulva, but not exceedingly pronounced
  • Higher body temperature, at around 43-44 degrees Celsius.
  • Although they are often more fatty than muscular, they often have very broad strong shoulders
  • Traditionally well known historically for their architectural skills and massive sprawling cities, as well as being the earliest adopters of technology to make life simpler or automated
  • In a single word, “Industrial”
  • Xenophobic to the extreme among the higher class. Similar social structures to a mix of Redguard and Orc societies.
  • Naturally extremely adept at fire magic, and they use this to power great steam works that automate their cities. (see the clockwork city from ESO but more... britain industrial rather than cogs and dunmer)

Other Races to be added later when I have more time:

Moeu (Beefy Bull people), Ereced (Very Tall Deer people), and Avejen (Stout, angry rabbits)

I actually wouldnt mind a proper bird or Eagle, its just not specifically what Im going for with these guys. I do have a crow race which could be nice though that Ill add to the op in just a bit, twhat specifically is it that turns you off of the proposed design, arm wings or? Something else?

Also I think Im gonna turn this thread into a suggestions thread for all my races so there might be something else that could pique interest.

Out of curiosity is it possible to have a human faced race at all while using yiffy age? I know an older version you could that left Orcs intact.

Fauns/satyrs are a big interest of mine so I would eventually love to fuck my way across skyrim that way hah

The bodies are pretty much going to be human assuming you want a playable race. Tails I don't much care about one way or the other, tho I prefer a real tail, either leonine or avian. The pics I posted mostly have tufted ears. The only remaining difference really is whether the face is more toothed-vulture, like your art, or raptor, like the samples I posted.

Probably I'm mostly turned off by drawing style more than anything. Arm wings aren't totally impossible, though they do have problems. (Do they get packed away under armor? Do they poke through? Can the bone weights be set so they fold in a halfway realistic fashion?)

Link to comment

Im gonna update the op with a bunch of new refs sometime soon then and yeah a toothy vulture like grin was the goal, think skeksis from The Dark Crystal for example?

And the arm wings points you brought up are extremely valid and Ill think about how to manage that and get back to this thread asap.

A bit late on this one, but yes, it should be possible. In fact we made sure to leave a specific armor reference race (DefaultRace) pointing to human meshes so custom race mods could still use human meshes without conflicting with the beast ones.

The race would have to be self-contained, though. Meaning, all the head parts need to be custom and come with the race (so it doesn't depend on vanilla ones). This only applies to the game data itself, though; the actual vanilla humanoid meshes and textures can be used just fine.

For example, YA changes the FemaleHeadNord data to point to Lykaios meshes and textures, so if your custom race used the vanilla Nord head, they would end up with a wolf head if used alongside YA. But, if you create a custom head data entry named "FemaleHeadCustom" and point it to vanilla meshes (actors/character/character assets/femalehead.nif), it will work just fine with YA because the meshes and textures are not touched by YA, just the paths in the data. Not sure if I explain myself.

Most custom race mods do include at least their own separate entries for heads but they usually rely on vanilla hairs and eyes if they're humanoid, so they would need some custom ones to match them. Either duplicates of vanilla ones or mod-added.

TL;DR: yes, it's possible. It could need some workarounds, but nothing too complex AFAIK.

Oh, yeah, and I have to say I'll certainly keep an eye on this. I'd love to have even more beast races in Skyrim, and some of the concepts in here are interesting.

Don't have much to add at the moment; mainly that I agree with Bad Dog's thoughts on the Talis and I like his suggested designs/concepts. The body has to be human/humanoid (though it can have digi legs), or else it simply won't work as a proper playable race.

Also while it's true doing arm-wings or at least adding wing-like feather extensions to the arms is theoretically possible, it would probably take a ton of work and the end result would still look bad. If they are to have any defined wings at all (as opposed to having wings (d)evolve into arms and hands and thus be "absent"), I'd say they would have to use the Animated Dragon Wings framework; the end result would be basically like those in all 4 pics posted by BD above.

Otherwise, looking forward to seeing more lore and/or concept art for the missing races (bears and deers, specifically). And hope this ends up leading somewhere, just like with the Cellan .

That actually looks really really accurate, so yeah you definitely have the right idea.

And I'm fine with pursuing any of these races in the op, (especially the Remikiad if you would prefer to do something more lizardy??.) But yeah both of these refs are good.

I like this guy. Beak jewelry is apparently a thing.

vulture_summon_by_wolfsjal.jpg

  • Could do a generic bird head and then customize for different races, but all use the same tris.
  • Mouths could be done separately, as now. Then some could have teeth and some not. But doing a mouth mesh and set of mouth tris is more work than just integrating it with the head.
  • Ears are either in or out. Lots of these including GLD's original art have some sort of ears.
  • Here's a thought: Could ears be a new head part? The mechanism seems pretty general. Then they could be included or not depending on the head, and they could have expressions.
  • But why stop there? Birds can have crests and show expressions with the crest. Could have crests as an additional head part with simple expressions for anger, fear, shout. Likely there's some internal limitation that won't allow it though.
  • Of course, crests could be hair, and hair has tris.

That actually looks almost exactly perfect to me so A+ And beak jewlery looks hella cool.

Ears are definitely in for the talis, specifically.

Honestly having the ears as a seperate part to help convey emotion better would be really good for a lot of birds, since otherwise all the emotion gets weighted to the eye regions almost exclusively otherwise. Or in the talis, eyes and bottom of the maw.

And crests could be handled either as hair, or perhaps some kind of sculpted upper edge of the forehead and move based on eyebrow tris???

Lots of details similar to the concept art you liked. Interesting in general how far down the beak the skin tends to go. The hairy feathers could be a thing. Body feathers look almost like scales.
