Your best bet, is to set up your game, Sexlab items lumped together, defeat on the bottom.. things like extra areas, more quests, textures, and the like can be activated later. Depending on your computer, determines how many items you can have in your load before something breaks *that and the limitations of the Skyrim game engine*. I would peel it back to start with less, about 60, get Defeat working, then slowly kick on the alternate mods till something breaks... Remember, any scripted mods that use "on hit" functions will break Defeat. Also, be sure Defeat is not overwritten by any other mod script wise. Basically, alternate survival mods have a good chance of breaking defeat, with the exception of SM Essential PC, that I use as a backup for when the enemy takes more than half my health in a hit, before defeat can trigger. And with that, no kill moves to avoid the headless bug that often comes with a player decapitation...

I tried to use the USLEEP variant, but it broke my Skyrim, lots of missing textures, duplicated resources at a higher ID#... So I went back to using what works... If USLEEP works for you, great.

Anyone have any other ideas how to get it to properly install ? I really have no idea at this point. I have had defeat working in the past, but after doing reinstall, it is broken again.

For those of you with a similar issue, here is what I did to fix it: 

 

1. make sure defeat is still installed, go into the game and go into a small house or some small cell with a loading screen at the door. 

2. save the game and then exit the game

3. in mod manager, uninstall the mod defeat

4. run fnis

5. go back into the game and load that save you just made

6. make another save in the same spot, but before you do wait 3 min or so and make sure the defeat menu in the mcm is no longer visible

7. exit the game after you just saved it

8. launch game again and load the latest save. make another save again in that small cell 

9. exit the game

10. install defeat again and run fnis, and manually put defeat near the end of the load order

11. start game and load latest save

12. after you load latest save it should say in top right "defeat mcm menu initiated", then you wait till it says registered 1 new menu

13. go into the mcm and install the defeat and exit mcm menu and pause menu

14. wait for a second and it should say in top right " defeat installed" 

15. yw  

 

TIPS!!!!!!!!!!: 

 

1. when making all the new saves, DO NOT OVERWRITE previous saves. only make fresh new ones even if you have to go and delete them later

2. whenever you make any kind of change to your load order you should run fnis 

3. the installation of defeat should happen rather instantaneously after you hit install, so if you're waiting more than a minute, it's likely that it won't install.

4. before you do any of this, make sure about what donttouchmethere said in an earlier post and have sexlab and all defeat requirements installed and properly activated INSIDE and outside of the game. that means that you have to install sexlab in the mcm before you install defeat in the mcm

Another heads up: this didn't work for me but I figured out another way. I figured maybe other sexlab mods were interfering with both the appearance of defeat in the mcm, and the subsequent install process going nowhere. It turns out I was correct. I disabled all of my other sl mods except slal, started a new game and defeat immediately appeared in the mcm. Then I initialized sl in its mcm menu, waited, then did the same for defeat. Hopefully I can now enable the other mods.

ZaZ must indeed be a hard requirement because without it Defeat barfs up 300KB of Papyrus errors instead of activating. An examination of the SexLabDefeat ESP shows references to models in the ZaZ pack, also. What frustrates me is that this requirement isn't documented on the original Defeat landing page or the landing pages for any of the patched versions. What I don't understand is how I ever got it to work without ZaZ in the first place. Must have been magic! I've gone down the whole Devious Devices / Cursed Loot route and while entertaining in small doses I felt like I wasn't really getting a chance to play a game. I can't say that I'm thrilled to have to install bondage gear and hundreds more lines of scripting just to get my preferred death alternative to work. Anyway... that's just me complaining. I guess I'm weird because I like my video game to have a little porn and my porn to have a little video game instead of going full tilt one way or another.

Would this possibly work for my animation selection window not functioning during an animation sequence? Instead of getting a window menu of sexlab animations when using the )0 key, it only brings up the tools menu that you get when defeat isn't running animations.

The fact even in 2022 it still works but i dont understand why it should work but it does what
