Automatron Modding question?

This a question of is it possible? A discussion on its probability rather than it will be.

 

I was looking at the robobrain treads, and was thinking is it possible to add onto to the robot workshop a brand new set of robot parts. I play as a Panzer Grenadier and I like to assault installations, defense and groups. But the only armor support I have is a Sentry bot I love them but due to my mods which make combat a literal insta death fest. I want real armor support, is it possible to create brand new robot parts from scratch that either look like a panzer 4 or a Sherman? not as big but about the same size as a sentry bot?

As to making the custom meshes then yes it should be doable, though how I am not too sure but would imagine it would be in 3dmax or the like.

 

And yeh sentry bots are nice, but damn do they have pathing issues, mostly I think due to their size, it may be worth doing a mod that just shrinks them down a bit, or maybe adds new armour mods that could beef up their armour to something like what you are wanting, that could be done by using existing armour mods and changing their names and effects in game, you could of course create custom meshes for them but for ease of use to start with just creating the new objects and such using existing meshes would be the quikest.

ok I see, currently was looking at the stats list on ck to see what I could alter including size. sadly this did not reveal what i hoped. Ill look into 3ds max and see if I can do something there.

You could give this a try, open the console, select the bot, then type setscale z.z  z being a number 1.0 or just 1 is the default size, not sure if you would need to do it everytime you load game though.  So to set the bot to 75% of its normal size it would be setscale 0.75, on npc though this can cause problems when interacting with things, but for bots should not be a problem. 

 

Though this could make things interesting in places where you use the terrain to deal with sentry bots where they can not path due to their size properly, shrunk down they could well now be able to follow you down things like stairs and such, where before their bounding boxes for pathing got stuck on the terrain, now if they are smaller they could well be able to path through those areas.

 

Another option is to change values for the template, not too sure where to find them in the ck but in f4edit the bit you are looking for are NAM6 - Height Min and NAM4 - Height Max and possibly MWGT - Weight, they are towards the bottom of the Non-Player Character (Actor) section for the relevant npc templates if you want it to affect all of that class of robot, if you only want them to affect companions then I am not too sure but you would probably need to use the console command from above.
