Should I get cat’s and dogs or get to work I’m having trouble deciding

It depends on what you want out of your game. I'll post a little comparison down below to give you an idea of what you can expect:

 

GTW:

• Adds 3 new careers (scientist, doctor, detective) that allows you to follow your sims to work and have them carry out a list of tasks within a time limit each shift.
• Introduces aliens into your game.
• Allows you to own and run restaurants and retail stores
• Adds a new neighborhood specifically for retail stores

Cat's and Dogs:

• Adds cats and dogs which comes with their own CAS choices and personality traits (cannot be controlled without mod)
• Adds veterinarian career
• Adds a new neighborhood
