Favorite kind of Mage build?

Been too long since I played Skyrim just to play it.  Been too much into screenarchery.  Thinking of doing a new playthrough, this time just for fun.  In the mood for playing a mage but want to roleplay it a little bit.  Like a mage with a certain specialization.  Or one that uses staves or something.

 

How do you like to play a mage?  What is the most fun for you?

The kind of character I find myself coming back to time and time again is a sneaky mage.  She starts off as a thief, and then learns spells as she goes.  She doesn't have enough confidence to be one of those mages who stand in the middle of a battle weaving a complicated two-handed spell, so she carries a spell in her left hand and a dagger (a soul-trapping one after she learns enough to enchant it) in her right.
