Skeleton???

I was attempting to add a new creature to the game... but I couldn't figure out how to link Skeleton's to creatures/npcs/ whatever I need to to make it work... anyone know how I go about doing this...? (works much differently than Creation Kit for OB.)

I think it's something in the nif file. I added the hybrid skeleton to new vegas and it instantly picked up the appropriate body nif and animations.

Yeah any new skeleton you add does that (if the file setup is correct at the start)... but if you want to use another skeleton for just one Creature or 1/2 (pick an amount) then how do I do that without overriding them all? (see example)

 

well... my problem is I want to create let's say a demon dog to replace (for instance) Cheyenne. I don't want to replace Cheyenne just change what she looks like (again for instance) to WoW Fel-hunter. But keep her the basically the same. I can't find anywhere to alter her skeleton to the new one. I can change her meshes but not her Skeleton. (Without changing ALL dogs.)

The skeleton setting is in the ModelList tab of the NPC, top center. Click 'edit'. I don't know if this is going to allow you to change the skeleton to one outside the creature 'type' directory, but you might be able to put the alternate skeleton in that directory. If you do you have to make sure that all the bones are named the same and perform the same functions or none of the animations are going to work.

 

If it even lets you do it at all.

 

Also shame on you for trying to bring any wow trash into this game. :P

Er... what? Way over my head... exmplain that with an example. IOW all "X" bones are named Fel-Hunter(?) or the Skeleton file is named Fel-Hunter? Including where your talking about... I'm new to GECK kind of the same as CK but it's organized differently... (was alot easier to add new creatures).

 

Sorry first thing that popped into my head to use as an example of something dog like. (was thinking of some kind of tentacle/dog creature based on Dead Space Babies... figured Fel-hunter was easier to type :P)

 

Trying to think of a better way to ask what I want to do... Scratch that here's what I want to do... So, DLed Children of the wasteland installed it... The skeleton for playable children would have over writen my BnB Skeleton so I decided not to the CotW skeleton... (NOT WHAT YOU THINK!! Just wanted to try it out.) problem was that when I made my character and got to 3rd person... My PC WAS STRECHED OUT TO ADULT SIZE... instead of being a child sized. I'm simply trying to correct that issue, to have both skeletons.

If that's "way over your head"... then there's not a chance in hell you're going to make this work, to be blunt. The bones that make up the skeleton have to match the bone names in the mesh (the 'body' of the thing), and the animation files. Not only do the names need to match, but the bones must be connected in the same way.

 

If the mesh doesn't match, you end up with parts of it stretching into infinity like happens if you use a bouncing breast body without the skeleton.

 

If the animation doesn't match then the creature will either do nothing at all, or contort itself into odd shapes because telling bone01 to rotate 150 degrees is fine for an elbow or knee, but not so good for a neck or wrist.

Not a chance in hell this is going to work, either. If you want to just 'try it out', then fiddle around in that mod without sexout. It's not like you need a child with bouncing tits. :s

Simply put in order to use both the Adult Skeleton and the CHild Skeleton I can't use both... it's one or the other. I want to fix that, so I don't have Child Aliens with BnB Installed.

Children don't have BnB anyway. None of the BNB bodies replace the child bodies. The child bodies don't even have breasts, let alone the weight painting to allow them to bounce.

 

No, you can't use both, because trying to do so makes no sense, unless you're trying to play *as a child* running around a wasteland where the adults have bouncing tits. In a sex mod.

lol yeah true... this was supposed to be a simple project to get me use to GECK... guess it's not so simple (impossible). Meh guess I just need to dive into my Sexout Doggie's Bitch Mod. (Which is way more complex, I've never written scripts this should be fun).
