srayesmanll Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Some animation mods seem to have bad effects on the startup (Noticed you had dance of death, which adds animations to Skyrim). Here's what I suggest (this has worked nicely for me): 1) Uninstall all mods. ALL of them (except DLC of course). Then start the game. 2) Let it run to the point where you start to build your character, then quit the game. 3) Go to your games saves folder and there should be 1 - autosave - prisoner games save (or something similar). Copy this game save somewhere else on your machine. If you ever want to start over again, all you have to do is copy this game save back to the saves folder, and you'll have a nice clean game save to start with AND you bypass the wagon ride. 4) Add the mods you need for character creation only, following the instructions for each of them. Specifically, body mods, races. hair, face, etc. Don't install any animation/gameplay/etc mods. Save these for when you get into the keep. 5) Create your character as normal. 6) Once you get into the keep, then save & quit. Install the other mods you want, then start the game and continue. NOTE: Of course, all of this is useless if you use the Live Another Life or some other alternative start mod. If you still get game crashes after this, I would launch steam and have it verify the cache. In fact, I would do that as part of step 1 above. Actually, do it every time you are going to start a new game.

srayesmanll Posted August 16, 2012 Posted August 16, 2012 Glad it worked. Make sure you copy that "prisoner" save so you can use it again on other restarts (and avoid that cart ride).
