Guest Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 What program do you use to edit/make textures? (Please link)
Halstrom Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Paint.NET is free and seems to be pretty user friendly for me, I don't have a link for it. There's some specific settings you need to save the textures, I can't remember them offhand and haven't reinstalled Paint.NET yet to look.
Guest Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 Thanks, though I found out after posting this that Paint.net can open DDS files. Had no idea...
astymma Posted August 15, 2012 Posted August 15, 2012 The GIMP is free and there are dds plugins available. Personally, I use Photoshop but that's an expensive toy but it has the best support for the nvidia dds plugins. Never tried Paint.NET but some friends have sworn by it.

I had Gimp and loaded the dds plugins, but it still ouldn't open the files, then again I had no idea what I was doing, never used GIMP before and spent 20mins before giving up and swapping to Paint.NET which seemed very idiot friendly for the sort of basic minor work I wanted to do.
