GoldenFrieza Posted October 5, 2017 Posted October 5, 2017 I just had to go buy a new computer so I have to start over with each game's installation, currently trying to get things back. Old comp now gets really hot very quickly even if just idling on the desktop for 5-10 minutes. I don't think it's a virus since I didn't have it connected to internet in a long time. I think it's just general age since it's going on 8 years old, was getting blue-screens/shutdowns and after I left it completely alone for a good few months it seems somehow worse. I don't dare try starting up a game in it again it will probably just fry itself. Don't know how to get the data off of it since hdd isn't even SATA so I figure it'd just be way easier to just buy new comp & re-download everything. So I did buy one, at least 1080p will be doable now. Could barely run the game before so TBH I didn't really follow Skyrim modding that closely, I basically beat the game's main quest plus guilds and left. I got most of the stuff I had from skyrim nexus plus quite a bit more since I'd stopped bothering to check. I'm going to take a look around of course but what I find both here and nexus is that if you aren't a regular there tends to be a lot you'll miss. Like on fallout nexus there are some cool mods that aren't in the top files because they were made this year so only have few hundred endorsements vs the file from 2015/early 2016 with tons of endorsements because it's been around much longer. I did have an account here but haven't visited in years so don't know the password and no idea what email was used. I might try creating my own stuff since I can now successfully open Fallout 4 CK, Skyrim CK(could open it before but lots of crashes), so I think I can possibly use a 3d program like maya or 3ds
valcon767 Posted October 6, 2017 Posted October 6, 2017 ok something that might help a little bit here is on the downloads page if you click on just Skyrim you will get a page with downloads showing. on the top of the list in the border (above the first file) there are tabs to sort the downloads by Highest rated, recently updated, and most popular. that should help for figuring out which you want to take a closer look at (hopefully) something you can try, if you want, to recover your data from your old pc is to get an external hard drive (usb version) and try to copy the files off it, but if it overheats idling as quickly as you said it may not work. if you used MO on the old computer you can probably at least get a copy of you loadorder and modlist by just copying the profiles section. (the files you want from there would be modlist.txt and loadorder.txt). if you have those files it would at least give you a starting point for getting the mods again. hope this is of some help.
GoldenFrieza Posted October 9, 2017 Author Posted October 9, 2017 Already went through the Download sections. But not everybody puts their files on there, there are still mods around here that you'll find in the topics(Main problem being their uploads to 3rd party sites are oftentimes expired by now). Also some distribute their mods through a blog and it can be difficult to find these. I feel it never hurts to ask especially since in my other topic I found out about a 2GB character overhaul with hairs for Oblivion available through a blog! The load order thing is a bit complicated as I'd hit the 255 ESP limit on Oblivion and started adding the armors to my own ESP. Skyrim I didn't mod much, most of what I had from here were stuff from other games(I'm not sure they allow these anymore), other than that some stuff from nexus.
