Headless and naked NPCs gliding about in a T-Pose

So, as the title describes, there are headless and naked NPCs gliding about in a T-Pose. It appears to only be soldiers, as this problem only appeared on several NPC soldiers during the Battle for Whiterun. Some were naked and headless, some were not. This is especially more noticeable since I'm using OWC (Open Civil War) which restores cut content (battles) to the game. And unlike Civil War Overhaul, it can be added and removed at any time.

So there I am, rushing forward to join my brothers and sisters in arms, and the majority of them are naked, with no head (no decapitated mesh, mind you, the head just simply isn't there and there's just a blank left). So either my opponents were using some messed up magic on my allies before I got there, or there's a mod conflict. Problem is, I don't know which mods are conflicting, if that is in fact the problem. That's where I need help.

It's not just OCW itself because these are normally added soldiers/guards/whatever, so I'm guessing it's an equipment thing. Dunno why, though. If I disable and enable them they're back to normal, but I don't want to be handpicking all the naked and headless NPCs out and removing them and adding them back to existence mid-battle every time this happens. So any help would be much appreciated.

I don't know about OCW as I use CWO, but adding or removing any mod mid playthru is a risk - doubly so if it has a script.

The missing meshes are likely, as you say, a conflict, but the T pose is usually indicative of FNIS - re-run FNIS Generator for users and check for errors there.  Do you use MO?  Can't help you with NMM, but someone will be along I'm sure :)

Thank you for the quick reply. I'm pretty sure I read somewhere that Open Civil War could be added and removed mid-playthrough without problems, although I admit I'm not entirely sure.

As for the T-Pose matter, I have already ran FNIS without any problems or errors. Also, I use NMM, not MO.

What version of OCW you running?

From 1st line of mod page - just a thought if you missed some loose files in an upgrade?

Attention: version 1.7 switched to BSA. Make sure you don't keep the loose script files from previous version. Or just use Mod Organizer.

I'm using the newest version. AKA 2.3.3. I only just downloaded the mod a few days ago and I've never had any previous versions of the mod.

Any help is welcome!

I went ahead and tried three mods that I picked out from my load order that would kind of make sense to be making the conflict.

Master of Disguise - Legendary.esp
imp_helm_legend.esp
SPTDiverseGuardsSkyrim.esp

Checked to see if it was any of those three, it wasn't. Problem persisted after re-install. So I'm still open for suggestions and any help is appreciated.

that's strange

170927032657643927.jpg

that guard is a female default race, she can wear all gear, but default headpart are maleheadnord and maleeyesomething

in maleheadnord valid race, there's isn't default race

so if the game try to generate that npc head in game, that headpart won't be load on that npc

mine have a head because crap kit don't check that, it have put maleheadnord in that npc head nif, and that female default race have her maleheadnord

either you have uninstall a mod that mess with those templates or leveled lists, your save look for

stuff from that mod and can't find it

either you have install a mod that mess with... and your save overwrite it

because of that some mods shouldn't be uninstall or install without restarting a game

Do you have wrye bash?  Don't see a bashed patch in the load order - would help sort your levelled list out for sure.

You know, that might actually be it. Back when I was trying to make two armors be compatible, I made a Wrye bash but I had no idea what I was doing. Maybe I screwed up somewhere along the way since I've never made one before until then. I saw a bunch of options I didn't really want to venture to far into without knowing what I'm doing. If you got some recommendations about how to make one and what options to tick, maybe we could see if that helps sort things out.

This is for MO, but it's a starting point.  http://wiki.step-project.com/Bashed_Patch

Get it here.  https://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/1840/?

Good info here  http://wiki.step-project.com/Guide:Wrye_Bash

Hope you can get it sorted.  I only use wrye bash for the bashed patch - I know it can do a lot of other stuff, but I have no idea how to use it really other than creating and updating the Bashed Patch.  I use MO, so have no idea how it works with NMM - hopefully you can work that out!

I made a Wrye Bash for the leveled list and the problem persists. Still naked, headless enemies gliding about in a T-pose. So still need help.

You use NMM, have you re-installed the XPMSE skeleton in case it was overwritten - and make sure it's last in load order.  Also, while you're about it, re-install your body replacer and allow it to overwrite - you may have overwritten it too somewhere?

Posted

I re-installed the XPMSE skeleton and made sure it wasn't overwritten and that didn't help. As for re-installing my body replacers, I don't think that's really necessary. It works on pretty much everyone apart from these soldiers not having their heads so it must be some mod that's affecting them and them alone. Doesn't seem like a body thing. When researching this problem, everyone that had similar problems connected the problem to an armor thing or something that affects guards. I dunno. Kind of running out of ideas here.

Posted

Update: So I started scrolling through the comments for Diverse Guards, which is one of the only mods I have that edits guards and has been reported to create this problem by a user, and I found this

NJeVmXZ.png

And that makes me think of a time where I kind of fucked up. You see, since Civil War Overhaul was taken off the Nexus, I couldn't see its mod description because I just had to download it from a user on reddit or something, so I didn't have any instructions. And what I didn't realize at the time, was that Civil War Overhaul cannot be installed mid-playthrough. But I didn't find out until long after I had already installed it, so I uninstalled it. And that fact coupled with the statements above, might be the root of the problem. I cleaned the save, but I don't think that was enough.

So if that's true, then I don't know what to do. Maybe if I got a guard armor replacer then maybe it might override it. I dunno.

Posted

Update 2: I'm trying to reset the guards by doing "coc qasmoke" and then "set timescale to 200000" then waiting 31 seconds, but because I have PAHE I keep getting the message in the top left corner that says "your slave has died of unnatural causes", even though prior I went and made them all essential beforehand. After the message pops up a few times, the game CTDs before the timer runs out.

It's a completely different problem, but one that needs to be fixed if I want to try this solution of mine.

Edit: Ended up typing "tfc" in console and then manually waiting 24 hours 31 times. It seemed to kick some of the warzones features into gear, but the NPCs in the siege were still naked, headless, and gliding about in a T-Pose. Maybe Open Civil War is just broken. I honestly can't see any other option that makes sense. I still saw some naked NPCs during the battle for whiterun, but if Open Civil War edits that then maybe that's it.

Yes CWO MUST be on a new game - even if starting via LAL due to it using assets that are created/assigned from the very start.  Cannot be removed mid game either.  It's a must have in every load order so far for me.  Was sad that the original author took it down.

Sounds like you are a step closer.  Have you posted on OCW page to see if anyone there knows?

No, I haven't. I've scoured through all the comments and not a single mention of headless, naked NPCs. Barely any mention of incompatibility with anything at all. Just praise on how well it works. And I don't really feel like waiting on answers that might or might not come in several days. I'll try uninstalling OCW and loading back to the battle of Whiterun and see if there are still naked troops. If there aren't, maybe it was OCW. If there are, I'm out of ideas.

Uninstalled OCW, booted up the Battle for Whiterun save, and it was fixed. Only saw one naked NPC, and he wasn't T-Posed, he had a head, he had animations, and he faded out of existence immediately. I guess we found the culprit! Thank you for your help, Stiffon. I appreciate it.

Turns out it wasn't OCW, because the problem is back. Yay. I'm guessing it's Warzones, then. Especially since I disabled Warzones Armory in the MCM and maybe that's screwing with it.

Closer still :)

I've never used warzones as it was outdated and had a lot of bad reports - besides I get all that and more from CWO + Immersive Patrols + Immersive Borders = plenty of skirmishes almost anywhere at random.  Even before (if) I start the civil war.

Try removing it and see - then add OCW and check again.  Fingers X
