how to use/install .sims3pack files?

I used to play TS4 and only ever encountered .package files. Now in TS3 is the 1st time im encountering mods with the .sims3pack format. how do i use/install these mods?

you gotta install them via sims3 launcher as manual downloads, first result in google will be about that

as IraGamagori wrote above, you got to install them via The Sims 3 Launcher — the first screen TS3 shows when you open the game. preceding that, though, you have to manually place the ".sims3pack" package into TS3 Downloads folder: in Windows, it should be located at Documents/The Sims 3/; in OS X, at Documents/Electronic Arts/The Sims 3/.

when accessing TS3 launcher's "Downloads" section, the package should then appear as ready to install. to do so, tick the square on its left then click on "Install."

For a Windows based computer, you should be able to double click on the sims3pack files.  Provided the file associations are not broken, it should automatically startup the Sims3 installer and also copies the sims3pack file into the Sims3 Downloads folder.

 

You should see a smallish Window open with a progress bar, showing the status of the installation.  I think it also activates the mod once it's completed, but you may want to double check that in the Sims3 installer.
