Jegan2040 Posted August 12, 2017 Posted August 12, 2017 I started Playing Fallout 4 just a week a go and I have a few questions that have been bugging be. 1. Can I change my companion weapon with the same weapon but its heavily modified? 2. If the weapon uses the same ammo as my companion's default weapon will they still get infinite ammo?
Invictusblade Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 this answer changes depending on mod usage. 1. i am not sure, same weapon or same type of weapon? 2. no, the companion weapons uses different ammo type to the standard ammo for instance MacCready's Hunting Rifle uses CompanionAmmo308Cal while a standard Hunting Rifle uses Ammo308Cal
Spyder Arachnid Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Not sure on the ammo stuff, but regardless of the weapon, a companion will use it. Just open trade and press the key to make them equip it. For instance, Preston has his own special Musket he uses. You can grab another, mod it up all fancy, and then trade that to him. Then just press T (by default) while highlighting it in his inventory and he'll equip the new one. Just like you would do with armor/clothing.
Eth4rlad Posted August 13, 2017 Posted August 13, 2017 Companions use unique Weapons using unique ammo. For example, Piper isn't really using a 10mm Pistol, her weapon is called CompPiper10MM, a unique non-playable Weapon that only looks like a 10mm, which uses Companionammo10mm , a magical ammo that never runs out. If you give her a pimped out vanilla 10mm Gun she still requires ammo from you, because that gun isn't using the magical companionammo. There's a mod that changes that though. http://www.nexusmods.com/fallout4/mods/6233/?
