HDT Hairs stop working on reload

The HDT Hair Physics only work when I create a new character. Once I save, exit, and reload the hair stops working. Any help would be appreciated

I have experienced something similar where if I saved/loaded while in a certain cell, the hdt hair would stop working. I found that once I left that cell, saved, exited the game, reloaded, the hair would function again. I don't know what it was about that cell that was causing the issue, had it happen in one other place too, but again, once you leave that game cell, save, exit, reload, the hair works again.
