Lostdreamer Posted July 2, 2017 Posted July 2, 2017 Opsie. I think I broke my game again. Someone mentioned a tool called Ordenador and said they had some good results reducing GPU load & increasing FPS as a result of reducing texture sizes using it. "Great" thinks I. "I'll give that a go." So I downloaded it, launched it through Mod Organizer ($), pointed it at MO's 'mods' directory (*) and pressed 'go'.(#) A day later it finishes (I have a lot of mods these days!), I launch skyrim and...CTD on game load. "bugger" said I. So I found the backup files Ordenador made, and copied them back to the Mods directory, launch skyrim and...CTD on game load. "New Game" worked and loaded up the Alternate Starts dungeon, and I thought I had only got away with only losing the save game somehow. But it CTD'd again when I slept in the bed. Crash fixes hasn't thrown any errors, but the papyrus log is full of "Error: Cannot do X" and "Error: Unable to do Y" messages. Which doesn't look good. I have well over 700 mods loaded into MO in various stages of active/inactive/looks interesting so would really, really, really like to avoid having to rebuild the game in MO from first principles if I possibly can. I don't suppose anyone can identify which mods are throwing up the errors in this log file so I can try reinstalling them and hope for the best? I don't suppose anyone has any other bright ideas as to how I might fix this? Thank you for listening, and thanks in advance for your help. ($) = My first mistake was probably not finding/reading the documentation. Gotten to used to experimenting with my game and getting away with it I guess. (*) = I think this was another of my errors. I should probably have pointed it at somewhere in the skyrim game directory. Presumably there is even a textures folder in there! (#) = Failing to take a copy of the mods directory before pressing go was yet another mistake, yes. In fairness, Ordenador did say it was backing stuff up, but... Papyrus.0.log
Lostdreamer Posted July 3, 2017 Author Posted July 3, 2017 Oh, and I should probably add the SKSE crash dump as well. .txt suffix added for ease of uploading. Means nothing to me, but hopefully someone can use it to point me in the right direction for a fix that doesn't involve reinstalling everything in MO from scratch. Please help! 2017-07-02_16.45.28.dmp.txt
loopie Posted July 3, 2017 Posted July 3, 2017 Post a mods list including those that don't have any esm files, especially texture mods, along with any mods such as ENBs, Dindoload, effect mods, texture mods etc. If you can't then at minimum post a load order, something in it might give us a better clue. In general, ordenator is a great tool, but .... It is critical to use it at the right time of an installation. You use it before any texture mods (including bodies, hairs, etc.) lighting mods, ENBs or anything else because ordenator will change all those. Basically, you use it on a fresh install once you get your terrain set up including any extra town mods or expansions etc. then you do all your lighting, effects and texture mods. Otherwise it will either crash or you'll have to re-install a whole bunch of mods to make your game look right again. Short of doing exactly what I said above, I'm not sure what else, if anything can be done. You can try some memory patches and the anti-crash mod, but not sure if it will help you any. Remember, installation order is just as, and sometimes more important then load order., and this one definetly falls into that category.
Lostdreamer Posted July 3, 2017 Author Posted July 3, 2017 Thanks for getting back to me. Hum, given how much I experiment with my mods and try out things that look interesting...that may always have been doomed to failure. . Shame. The idea of not constantly running my graphics card at 100% load was quite appealing... Mod list & load order from MO attached but the Mod list in particular can make quite difficult reading these days. It's long, and there are lots of mods loaded that arn't active - mostly mods that look interesting but I havn't had a chance to experiment with yet. I don't think the whole lot is corrupt, but I don't know how to identify the ones that are so I can reinstall them. I'm hoping it will be possible to work out from the papyrus / crash logs. Unfortunately I don't recognize which mods the processes throwing errors belong to but if someone with more knowledge of such things than me can either help out or point me in the right direction to work it out myself that would be grand. Otherwise, I guess the next step is to pair the game right back to the bare bones, reinstall that if it still crashes - and then go through the slow process of reinstalling everything else bit by bit. Which is something I really, really want to avoid - possibly to the point of just saying 'fuck it' and deleting skyrim for now! Oh, and review my computer backup solution - if I had proper backups this would be much less of a disaster. modlist.txt loadorder.txt
