monkeycid Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Hey guys! I am struggling to find any information on how to install Anthony Ling's hair modifications and to get it working. I downloaded his mod from moddb and I've installed it using FOMM but I can't, for the life of me, find them in-game. I have the ESP/ESM activated but nothing seems to be happening. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
Ark of Truth Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Did you hit the Activate button inside FOMM? Installing it doesn't activate the mod.

Yep, I activated it and both ESM and ESP files are checked. I'll post my load order, too. I am using Body by Race, Type3, Robert's Male Body and Beware of Girl for textures. I did try FNVEdit although I don't know how to use it properly. When I looked at some of Lings.esm sub-folders, I found quite a few files highlighted in red but I don't know how to fix them.
monkeycid Posted July 22, 2012 Author Posted July 22, 2012 Do you have a link to the mod download? I found it here.
geonosis Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Do you have a link to the mod download? I found it here. hehe then read the discreption right below the Download Now button Full release in Fomod ready form. Change extension from .7z to .fomod for easy installation. Lings Coiffure provides a wide variety of eyes, hairstyles, and eyelashes for character creation or NPC modification. but you dont need to rename the file in open FOMM > Package manager > Add Fomod and simply add Ling then follow the instalation have fun

Ark of Truth Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Are you trying to find them in the game world or Character Creation? and your using it for New Vegas?
geonosis Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 Are you trying to find them in the game world or Character Creation? and your using it for New Vegas? the moddb files are only for NV he got banned for NV but his files for FO3 are still on Nexus ( ALL HAIL THE NEXUS LOGIC )
monkeycid Posted July 22, 2012 Author Posted July 22, 2012 Are you trying to find them in the game world or Character Creation? and your using it for New Vegas? I have New Vegas, yes. I've been trying to find them using showracemenu and then looking at the hair selection screen but only the default hairstyles are there.

Ark of Truth Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 What happens if you dont fmod it but copy the contents directly into the Data folder? Some mods even though they are supposed to be fmod ready don't work as fmods.

monkeycid Posted July 22, 2012 Author Posted July 22, 2012 I'm not using any race mods that I know of but I have installed the full NVEC package, thing. Though when I uncheck the NVEC ESM, nothing really changes. I'll try manually installing and report back. Edit: Tried manually installing and still not working.

monkeycid Posted July 22, 2012 Author Posted July 22, 2012 I'm going to download a fresh copy of New Vegas and the DLC content then try installing Lings before anything else and see what happens. It may be the mod itself not working as quite a few people have posted on other sites with problems but hardly any solutions are provided. On a side note, if anyone is using Lings without any difficulties, would you be able to share your version with me via a private message? (If that's allowed, that is.)
gregathit Posted July 22, 2012 Posted July 22, 2012 I am using the ling's version that you linked to on moddb. I don't have any problems with it at all. Did you toggle archive invalidation off then on several times with FOMM? Did you start a new game? Clean saves and using the showrace won't always work. New games are the only way to get some plugins to work.

I didn't try a new game, I was using a character save I found at the Nexus which lists this mod as a requirement. Do I just need to simply click Archive Invalidation off and on or do I need to restart FOMM in-between? Edit: Which mod management system do you guys suggest I use to install this mod, by the way? FOMM, NMM, or Wrye Flash? Edit2: Woohoo! It's working! Not sure what caused it not to work but with a fresh installation and only Lings installed at the moment, I can safely say - it works!
