Meta.ini - Override or Not? what is it? what does it do?

i noticed a shitton of mods that have nothing to do with eachother whatsoever use this "meta.ini" file and often i'm prompted to override, but i choose not  to. does that affect anything at all?

it's used by mod organizer to keep information about the mod.   

Like the version number, whether or not you have endorsed it, the category... etc.

 

It shouldn't matter if you override it or not.

Can the meta.ini files be safely deleted? Yeah, they're very small files, but my OCD can't stand the clutter.

If you're using MO, then I would not remove them.

Even if you did delete them..  MO would just add them back... because MO, too, has OCD and needs to know about the things living in that folder.
