BTW: I noticed the change in the response to the refusal to serve option for the player. Interesting path to Valhalla...

THAT is an old animation test that I apparently forgot to get rid of! Everyone' date=' disregard... that.

As for the first scene, I was planning to move Gunnar to the main hall once I have that fitted out. Right now both npcs are just standing there to make it easier for playtesters. As I'm trying to do it, the bj is in front of his men, and the "examination" will be in private.

If anyone noticed, yes, the bear rug is overly large. There's a story behind that.

Robin, I'd rather forgotten your Ayleid idea. I was hunting around for an area that was small and a fort was the first I'd found... I might still see if I can take over one of the smaller Ayleid ruins already on the map as I'd forgotten how many aren't quest related. Nothing's set in stone yet here.

That's fine cap, it was only an observation anyway. As far as I'm concerned it's your mod and you could put him anywhere you want. I await further developments. I liked the rug very much btw.

I need to get better at routines.

Right now, at some point in the afternoon, Gunnar will attack his bookcase. The NPC is likely attempting to target the dummy and failing miserably. I'll move one or the other.

Then, he drinks.

Then, he reads for awhile.

Then, he SPRINTS LIKE A MADMAN to bed. He sprints everywhere, in fact.

But progress is being made! My work in progress (not the download) also includes CM Partners dialog, though he currently hates the player too much to actually follow you around. I'm currently working on this as well. The final version will hopefully include customized dialogue for the CM Partners scripts, but that's a low priority compared to working quests, a fuller fortress (this will be where the player's first quests take place), and more porn.

Arg' date=' maybe that's a better idea. I want it to be high, along the Jeral mountains near Bruma and the Skyrim border. The problem is that many cool areas are just difficult to reach on foot (and I'm a bit worried about npc pathing).

Hm. Have you seen the Tantrivaylia mod? I ask because I'm not sure if the road it uses is part of the vanilla map or added by the mod. Anyway, iirc, you can walk pretty much "straight" from Cheydinhall to the North East, at least for a while. Again, some mountains over that way that don't get used much, except for (iirc) Heart of the Dead which uses Dragon Peak, and maybe Giskard's The Necromancer, but that one actually adds some paths and roads and doesn't really interfere with much.

You could always move the site to over the border and siting it in Skyrim. Anyone wanting play the mod would then disable border regions in the Oblivion.ini file. Many of us are quite used to doing that. With each rebuild of Oblivion, I do that as a matter of course Just add a warning in the readme to that effect. It doesn't have to be very far into Skyrim.

Status report: I've found a good place over/near the border, so thanks for the idea people.

Also, I am ridiculously overambitious. I have decided to build a small Imperial fur trading settlement just over the border with Skyrim in a [fuck lore I have decided is] lawless area for Gunnar to lay claim to (by which I mean claim power over, not raid--I don't have the scripting chops for that yet). So I've spent way too much time looking at place name conventions. I'm thinking Kirkscarth (kirk is for church--it'll have a Nines chapel and a small monastery or hermitage* up in the mountains, and scarth is for a gap in the ridge and the guy in KOTOR who was probably raped by sith). This will take time before it's playable--I'll need to build interiors, populate the town, and make sure there are lots of animals around to hunt. But HOPEFULLY, even if life happens and the mod doesn't get completed, it'll be a fun modders' resource.

I've also built and furnished (sparsely, on purpose) the small building where the quest will begin (I'm changing up the beginning a little bit to make scripting easier).

Just a warning: the mod slowed in the past weeks because I was hanging out with my boyfriend before he had to move for work, and I may stall again because my grad program is starting up again for fall semester. But WATCH THIS SPACE, I'm still very much into this.

In other news, I'll soon be populating the fort with Gunnar's men. Anyone who would like to help create npcs for the fort or the town is welcome to send me ideas or files [you'll be credited if I use it!]. It'll be mostly free male nords in Gunnar's place, but I could also use a couple mercenaries and thralls of any vanilla race. The town will have a more diverse population but would be mostly Imperials and Bretons, with a few elves and Nords.

*Why yes, of course there's going to be nunrape. Also monkrape. It goes with the theme. The character I've been playtesting this with is a monastic (i.e. religious, not whatever silly martial arts definition the class description uses) novice.

Cap, the above setting for Gunnar makes a lot of sense. The idea would be that Gunnar has settled for a lesser lordship than the one he believes himself entitled. At least for the time being. I'm sure that you will work more on back story for him later and the concept of slow revelation to the player has its attractions for me.

perhaps some later quests involving a series of failed attempts to regain his lost kingdom. I think I see him as a slightly tragic figure doomed to a fate similar to Tantalus with his desired goal so close and so very far from his grasp. I don't know if you'd agree. I had a friend once who claimed that he was the heir to a title and spent most of his life finding ways and various scams to regain what he believed he had been cheated from obtaining. If I were to choose a thematic phrase for him it would be: "I want it all back". That fellow is quite old now and a bitter soul to say the least.

As for the pacing of releases and mod work done by yourself: Real life takes first place and we all understand that. The only thing that any of us will ask here of you is simply stay in touch. That is all.

I for one am content to see what developments occur when they occur.

Good luck Cap!

That isn't quite what I was aiming for--I was thinking that he was a relatively minor lord all along, more a leader of warriors than a rarefied noble (that's safer: I'm trying to make sure Skyrim doesn't undo my work) whose proper lands were taken from him by a rival claimant. Perhaps he was a second son whose older brother died and the claim was taken before he could get home. Years later he doesn't consider himself in a lower position so much as unjustly displaced. He's made a rather successful living as an outlaw lord, is relatively self-satisfied, but still wants to be home. Basically, he's more restless and ambitious than bitter.

As for taking back his proper title, that might be the Skyrim sequel. ; )

In other news I'm thinking of making him a little younger--mid-thirties rather than early forties. Minor detail though.

Hey, I remember you complaining about the age maps, how it was basically impossible to make a character who wasn't very young look decent, when I came across this. http://tesnexus.com/downloads/file.php?id=39823 now, it overrides your eyes, and body meshes so you need to careful while installing it if you want to continue to use MBP but the age are SO MUCH BETTER it simply isn't funny. also there is another version by the same person which has rougher skin textures for the human and elven races, which may be more your style.

Do you mean to imply there will be scripted events where NPCs (like Gunnar) rape other NPCs?

I'm hoping. There must be a way because other mods do that. However, we've already established that my script-fu is weak, so there's a chance that I might either have to make it heavily implied, write the scene in a messagebox, or have the player do it him or herself when the plot advances that far.

I've already writen some dialogue where Gunnar talks about this sort of thing. He is not a fan of the ( imperial version of) the nine divines.

There's a couple things added! But first, please know that you should probably start this version with a save that has not yet met Gunnar; otherwise might mess up some of the new dialog. You will probably also need to disable border regions.

What I added:

*New Gunnar dialog! As you did previously, please type ~,, then coc testraiderruins . There will be new dialogue options after the initial sex scene.

*A place called Fur Trader Outpost is now on your map, north of Cheydinhal near the Skyrim border. You'll get a quest from a traveler named Charlie to deliver a message to the man who works there. After this dialogue is when the player will be knocked out and transported to Gunnar's fort--that I haven't scripted yet. You'll also have the opportunity to ask about the surroundings.

*The town of Kirkscarth is now on your map. There are no interiors yet, and only three buildings (chapel, inn, mayor's house/government building), but it'll show you the setting. Gunnar's fort will be sunk into one of the overlooking hills.

*There is an NPC next to the chapel in Kirkscarth who is of my new custom race, Short Breton. Basically it's exactly like a normal Breton, only the same height and weight as a Breton woman. It's an experiment to a) create a quest where you have to find the "short monk" and B) a human option for players who want to have male characters (that's about a quarter of you) that's small enough not to mess up some of the sex animations while still looking legal. He's an experiment, basically.

HAVE AT IT! This isn't as far as I wanted to get tonight but I wanted to release this a little early so I could get feedback. Let me know what you think!

That was very, very impressive. Thank you. I especially liked the touch complimenting 'her' on her skills, and his remarks about where the skill was aquired.

The place itself is very atmospheric. The lighting is just right.

When we are given the choice, in the more complete version, to fight or submit will there be more to it? I know its not complete, but my proud Redguard lass (made purely to test this) used her adreneline rush and beat him down at lvl 1 for even suggesting she become a thrall. =P

Oblivion crashes immediately after I enable this mod, otherwise it runs fine. Are there requirements or possible compatibility issues at this time? I thought I'd be fine, as I run a lighter installation than most people here.

Not a complaint, just trying to help with bug feedback, as I don't know if it is a known issue or plain ignorance on my part. If you need that I post any additional info ask and I will provide it ASAP. I fully endorse this mod and really wish that it comes to fruition.

Daguy---Hopefully so! My plans are that if you say no, he decides to give you an honorable death. Forcibly. Right now I have that cut off for testing purposes. Originally I wanted there to be more to it (i.e he forces you anyway if you don't escape) but my scripting just isn't up to it. This seems more in character, though.

SenReality: YOU DO NOT SCARE ME!

Biallge: I have no idea! It may currently need CM Partners--if that turns out to be the case, I suggest you wait until next update. I may be removing or altering that capability as it potentially gives the character too much power (all you need to do is get the guy to follow you or stop--Gunnar would not appreciate the player telling him when to eat!). Partners also forces me to match his level to the player's, which kind of sucks as he's supposed to be more powerful. Otherwise the story doesn't make sense.

You might want to try putting the mod at the end of your load order--that's how I have it arranged on my computer.

And everyone: THANK YOU!
