Not new to modding, and having major problems installing SexLab

I am definitely not a noob to modding, but I have been having a hell of a time getting sex lab installed.

I have actually done it before, but now that I am reinstalling, I am having serious issues.

I spent over 8 hours today just trying to get the framework installed. Clean install of skyrim, followed all the steps (and installed all the requirements for all the requirements), and every time I load the game (new game, or previous save) and go the the mod configuration menu, and chose install sex lab, it starts working, and I crash to desk top.

I have looked through the faq, and the troubleshooter, and none of that helped me.

I am running windows 10 currently. And I just reinstalled steam outside of c/programs(86), so I might try it again.

But seriously, this shit shouldn't be this complicated. I have gotten it to work before.

Anyone have any thoughts on this?

A couple more things to note. I have 2 different versions of skyrim to install in steam.

When I tried this last and was having these problems I was using the Skyrim Legendary Edition installation  (and the unofficial legendary patch.)

I also have the option of installing it with the newer version (special edition.) I see SKSE might update to this, but I was using the most recent SKSE, and not the special edition.

And before anyone asks, yes I have all the current versions of all the files. Yes I ran FNIS correctly (according to how you are supposed to use it in MO.)

So I am really at a loss here. I followed the sexlab installation guide to a tee, and it's not working for me. Any help would be appreciated.

Good to know about the 64 bit version. Is that because SKSE hasn't been updated for it yet? Their page says they are working on it.

And I followed the guidem, and went through the trouble shooting thread as well. When I get to the step of simply loading the game (even tried new game instead of existing save multiple times) and go to the MCM, and click "Install" (all the prerequisites seem to have been met, although the FNIS sometimes show up with a ? mark) and back out of the menus I see the messages saying it's installing, but then it crashes to desk top every time.

I got it to complete once, and saved, but then when I loaded that save, it was corrupt. I might try again installing it outside of C/Programfiles(x86) a see if that is the issue.

it's not just the SKSE, a lot of other mods would need to be updated as well.

i don't know what would corrupt a save like that.

Update. Thanks for the heads up on the "Special edition." I will stay away.

Installing elsewhere on my drive, didn't fix my issue.

Sorry, and I take that back after following your link. I  was actually following a different guide and troubleshooter. I will give that method a try.

Update 2:

Using your manual method (the guide you posted) worked for me! Thanks very much! Not sure why I was having issues using MO, but it seems like I can use MO for installing all my other mods (including SL mods) now that I have the basic framework functional. Again, much appreciated.

Er... correction... After modding with MO a bit, it became highly unstable. I went back to NMM though and that seems to works (even though it has the disadvantage doubling up on install files on my SSD. :(, I will take the stability though over MO's BS.)
