flipperz Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 I cannot find the culprit of CTDs and 'sometimes' freezing at the beginning in the cave and near outside Riverwood (I thought I did not have many mods...). Randomly will CTD in cave or during combat. Will random CTD in open world, outside of cave, near riverwood. It will also freeze after 10 minutes playing. What I've tried (not mod expert): -reinstalled, etc etc -My first concern was Audio Overhaul 2. I ran all the big mods together; AOS 2, Immersive Creatures, Ordinator, Apachii Divine Elegance Store, Vivid Weathers, Immersive Patrols, Schlongs of Skyrim, my 2 combat mods (Vigor & Combat Evolved), More Nasty Creatues (Pretty sure it's not this), Animallica (pretty sure it's not this), Enhanced Blood Textures Edit: I'm also running vivid landscapes 4k And it was running fine, but I should've been more thorough. I was using "Alternate Start: Live another life" -- because it makes troubleshooting faster.. But I started to CTD on the path to Riverwood -- so I just made a guess and assumed it was "Alternate Start." I have no idea anymore -- now I can't even get through the cave prologue without CTD (after I disabled Alternate Start) *Just to add, the carriage prologue is always bouncing.... I assume it's SOS, but I don't know yet. I have to use the mod "Prisoner cart fix" to fix it. I know it's not the physics because My FPS: ENB ON - 30-40 FPS / ENB OFF - 60 -120 FPS (alot). VSYNC is ON in enblocal.ini. My system specs 1080 gtx + i7 / 3840 X 2560 res / Vividian ENB The only thing I can do is try to install them 1 by 1 AGAIN I've tried a lot of different things now I'm running in circles. ..... flipperz Posted May 1, 2017 Author Posted May 1, 2017 It seemed to calm down when I reduced the 4k textures to 2k... I still have CTD at the same spot on the road to Riverwood but I just avoid the area.
Kovya Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 double check your skse.ini to be sure it is set up properly. It has a huge impact on how ram is managed. This shows itself when you have more and more mods using scripts and mods with 2k+ textures i.e. more stuff than the vanilla system was built to handle. CTDs are likely to happen when memory isn't managed properly.
flipperz Posted May 2, 2017 Author Posted May 2, 2017 It feels stable, played for about 4 hours no CTD. (Except 1 CTD after restarting the game, and loading my save. It was fixed when I "started new game" - then loaded my save after "starting a new game" -- I believe that is the "Foot IK" error that caused that CTD, so no big deal apparently. That seems to be the appropriate response when encountering that error). I did 3 things... Downloaded the SKSE memory management plugin, edited skse.ini memory to 1024. From the beginning, that was a pretty big piece I was missing. I used Vivid Landscapes 2k instead of 4k. It seems that was too much for the Skyrim engine to handle (I use 4k body textures). And the freezing / CTD on the road to Riverwood + the CTD on the road to riften, (not far long after whiterun's bridge)- I'm pretty sure that was related to Live Another Life. I vaguely remember that mod CTDing in the same spots years back too. Uninstalled, now I didn't get any specific location freezes or CTDs. The random freezing seemed to be the 4K textures, now I have no random freezing. I kept "prisoner cart fix" for the bouncing introduction carriages, which I believe was indelibly caused by SOS.
