Sexlab won't Install - I think I found the reason, not the solution.

Read this, to anyone that didn't get to install it.

Manuall you can install sexlab by copying the data to your skyrim/Data folder, right?

But recent FUCKNUGGETRETARDED WINDOWS10 treats its users like DROOLING IMBECILES and automatically denies all data change to program files.

We need to find a way to add and modify any data to steam's skyrim folder. But even with administration level access in my own laptop, BRAINFUCKEDCOCKSUCKINGBILLGATES' windows denies me access.

Now any help with overcoming this would be great. Thank you.

The solution is to move/re-install your steam directory outside of the windows file structure. Move it to for example:

C:\games\steam

Then you're issues with windows over-helpfullness are gone. Can't remember if I had to re-install steam, or was able to just move it and then update steam.

Not installing steam to program files?

Changing steams library location to outside of program files?

Steam>Settings>Downloads>Steam Library Folders>Add Library Folder>Remove default one>???>Profit

Well the thing is, the windows tries its damnedest not, ever, EVER to have my Steamapp data to be copied outside of it.

I have a retard windows clutching at it until its fingers fall off.

I don't want to install whole skyrim, so I try sneaking a copy of the files outside, then reinstall already empty steam outside of C: and voila.

But windows tries hard not to give admin privileges to me.

Is there a workaround to move steam? Windows tries its hardest NEVER TO MOVE A SINGLE STEAM file.

I hate windows 10

well fuck it, I have to start from scratch unless someone hands a little help about at least moving a few steam files

Does windows let you backup your games (via Steam Backup)? if it does, Backup your Skyrim outside Program Files -> Uninstall Steam -> Reinstall outside Program Files -> Restore your Skyrim

RClick the folder and change its security settings.

To change the security settings, it needs admin privileges. I am an admin user, owner of the laptop but it somehow prevents... It's weird AF

Get it now?

HOLY...

That's smartest idea I heard. If it works, I won't forget you.

Well,fuck.

Apparently some demented little fuck made Skyrim's modded version impossible to move.

Do any of you know what strange stuff like Nexus or SKSE might be doing the "impossible to move file" stuff?

You can edit the admin privileges under the Security tab when you RClick the folder and get its Properties.

Just follow the light.

I moved Steam on Win10 shortly ago, it works and you don't even have to exactly follow these instructions ... I think I just moved the whole Steam installation by hand and ran Steam.exe from the new folder. It fixed everything on its own afterwards. At least I think that's what I did. In any case it was so easy that I don't even remember exactly.  :P

Can't say how difficult it is if Steam is installed to the default directory, because I never made the mistake to install anything game-related to C:\Program Files

And you can copy stuff from any folder on the Windows drive just fine.

I'm on Win7, but I did get a basic familiarity with Win10. The steps might be a little different, but you should be able to change those Admin settings

Google is my friend :P

Its pretty much the same process in Win10 as it is in Win7

I don't know if changing them will fix the problem, but it should since I've had similar and it was changing the settings that fixed it.

Also, set all the .exe files to Run as Administrator for all users.
