herdustisverypretty Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 Acccckkkk I don't know what I'm doing. So I'm trying to make a standalone ver of Eferas shoulder bags mod (here) but it's just not happening. I managed to figure out changing the textures in Nifskope, so I did that. In the CK I selected the new model to be used, and I've heard shit about material swaps and assumed I needed to do that as well, so I made a new BGSM (using Material Editor) with the textures I made + linked it in the CK (I THINK. The material swap stuff confuses the heck out of me so I very well may have got that part wrong) And what I'm getting in game is not pretty (see attached image). So obviously I'm doing something wrong. Can anyone please help me? I'm super confused. I did see someone saying to create new items in FO4Edit but those posts were before the CK was officially released. Is FO4Edit the best way to make new items? I really have no idea. Any help is appreciated. I'll bake you cookies or smth if you can fix my problem.
legacyslayer Posted April 24, 2017 Posted April 24, 2017 The first thing I would check is your file paths. Open up the outfit in nifskope, click on the mesh scroll to BSLightingshader property and make sure the TXT path next to it has this format (Without quotes) "Materials\OutfitFolder\Outfit.BGSM" For example a Bikini Red outfits material is located in Clothes, under the Bikini outfit folder, it should look like this: Materials\Clothes\Bikini\BikiniRed.BGSM, Not (C:)\Users\Apps\Steamapps\Common\Fallout4\Data\Materials or anything close to that.

Okie dokie, I'll check all of it again. I'm such a noob with Nifskope, it scares me >_>

Just for clarification purposes file names are not case sensitive, since for example you move a file named T-SHIRT in a folder that contains a file named t-shirt it will overwrite that same file. No need for Apologies, its the effort that counts.

Ok so I checked and it does say steam\etc, how do I get it so it doesn't say that?
herdustisverypretty Posted April 30, 2017 Author Posted April 30, 2017 Okay so I tried just backspacing the steamapps/common/etc parts, and now I'm getting this I don't know what I'm doing wrong >_>
legacyslayer Posted May 1, 2017 Posted May 1, 2017 Okay so I tried just backspacing the steamapps/common/etc parts, and now I'm getting this I don't know what I'm doing wrong >_> Well its progress atleast, It seems like you dont have the correct textures for the suit bundled in the material (BGSM) file. If the BGSM wasnt made for that specific mesh, it will show texture errors just like that.

How else am I supposed to do it?
legacyslayer Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 There is a UV map that is specific to that mesh, and it seems your textures dont line up properly. Ive heard you could export the UV map from 3DS max, however I myself do not have it so I cant help you there. I Apologize

I had only set up the files for one bag, finally got it working, then made the rest. And now all the textures, including the one I got working, are pink again. I honestly don't know what's happening and what to do about it. I didn't change the mesh/textures/anything for the first bag I got working, but it's suddenly pink again now that I've made more (separate items). Acccckkkkk. Why is making this stupid mod so impossible.
Vioxsis Posted May 2, 2017 Posted May 2, 2017 There i are quite a few things that could be at fault, it would be much easier to find the fault/faults if you pack everything together (nif, dds, bgsm, esp) and link it for us to poke at.

Here you go. I'm sure I've fucked up immensely but I have no idea what, precisely, I have done. Thanks for assisting.
legacyslayer Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 the first thing i notice is your missing materials in your file path > Clothes/ShoulderBag/HQ.BGSM Should be Materials/Clothes/Shoulderbag/HQ.BGSM

Thanks for assisting. the first thing i notice is your missing materials in your file path > Clothes/ShoulderBag/HQ.BGSM Should be Materials/Clothes/Shoulderbag/HQ.BGSM Like legacyslayer said, the paths in the nif's are wrong. You have to include the materials\ prefix in the nif. In the esp when making the swap record you do not. Another thing that I noticed is that at least one of the material files have the wrong filenames. Kominato_M.nif for example. The path it has is for Kominato.bgsm which doesn't exist. Also at least one of the BGSM (KnB.bgsm) points to the wrong texture file. It points to KnB01_d.dds but it doesn't exist. I haven't had time to look at more or the esp itself. But that should get you started looking at and fixing the issues at hand.
legacyslayer Posted May 6, 2017 Posted May 6, 2017 Ahh ok I see what you are trying to do. I fixed the issue, its really simple and you almost had it.. When you make the .BGSM file, you have to select the Alpha Blend Mode - Standard and make sure to enable Alpha testing. After that it should all work perfectly -EDIT Seems it works in bodyslide, but not in game.. Gotta poke around some more, but its definitely Alpha transparency issue -Nother EDIT Nvm fixed it, its Alpha Blend Mode - NONE not Unknown or Standard.. geez Fallout 4 is a finnicky b**ch Dont have time to test in game but these should work.. If not let me know.. i hate life-Fixed.7z (On a side note, apparently Materials does NOT have to be in the file path.. I was wrong, and I apologize)

I was told I'm meant to do something with BSLightingShaderProperty but I have no idea what, no one was clear. You're also saying I don't need to have the BGSM file in with the dds texture paths? When I select the dds in the Steam folder it displays the correct mesh (just the bag with the textures) but if I remove the steam/steamapps/etc it goes back to the blank all white mesh of the outfit as well as the bag that it looks like in the file you attached. Is that correct? Either way, it's still pink in game. I have no idea what I'm meant to do tbh. This is so confusing.
