My animation won't play!

Hello!

I've tried and followed Turbo's tutorials three times but can't get my single actor animation to play. The WW notification when starting the game tells me it's loaded the animation and mentions my name. I can select the intended furniture and the category I chose to initiate it like you normally do. But the sim then only stands still in the furniture instead of playing it untill I cancel the action. They once got a negative moodlet for unsatisfactory masturbation which I found was kind of humerous, so that function works too. I've tried both genders and the same furniture works with other animations.

Maybe someone who knows what they're doing could hint me towards some step I'm messing up at, if you have a little time to spare? I've only used Studio and Blender briefly before and don't really know where things are going wrong.

  1. I make the animation, it is 300 frames long at 30fps, includes one actor and name it BlueFire_Masturbation.blend. The sofa object it is made with is removed before saving.

  2. In Studio I make a clip pack animation, name it Masturbation.package and import my animation. In warehouse it defaults the MaxFrameCount to 301 which I lower by 1 to match, and multiply 0,03333334 by 300 which gives me 10,000002. When adding that to duration it changes to 10, which probably doesn't matter. Same procedure for the Clip header.

  3. I open the package in S4PE and export the CLIP and CLHD.

  4. I create a new package in S4PE and import the extracted files without changing any settings, and press import. In the CLIP file's resource details I tick Use resource name and Rename if present, name it Masturbation and get the _KEY.

  5. Modding Toolbox! It is opened and given the string BlueFire:LanguageFile. I copy the FNV 64 High Bit to the stbl file name as shown in the tutorial without the prefix.

  6. In the DB STBL Editor I open my renamed .stbl and hit Insert Row and generate. I am a bit confused as to what to type here so I added BlueFire:Masturbation, and only Masturbation in the text string. Unlike shown in the tutorial the bar becomes yellow, no idea why, or if it even matters.

Nevertheless, with the new row selected I export the stbl to all languages.

  7. I import the new language files to S4PE and it looks like it does in the tutorial screenshot.

  8. Moving on to the XML file, I follow the tutorial's example by entering in BlueFire:WickedWhimsAnimations and copy the FNV 64 without the prefix and paste it as shown into the file name.

  9. Now in the XML, I replace the s variable to the generated FNV 64 decimal hash and the n variable to "BlueFire:WickedWhimsAnimations".

  10. I go back into S4PE and copy the string shown in the tutorial screenshot and paste it into animation_display_name.

  11. Here's the XML, I left all the optional lines as they were.

animation_length had me a little stumped but I figured 10 ought to be correct, 300 frames/30 fps makes 10 if that's the correct way to do it (I need more points into INT).

  12. Lastly I import the XML file into S4PE, save and add it to the mods folder to test ingame.

  13. The masturbation was unsatisfactory. Same result.

If I were to guess then either it's something with the yellow bar in the Modding Toolbox or the XML file. Or something completely different who knows!

Sorry if it's something really obvious ^^

Hey there, I'm new to this too and had a lot trouble at first but I got there thanks to Redabyss and his tutorial,

How's it going?

From what I see...

I think its the "animation name" you've called it "masturbation" on your XML,this must be the name in s4pe,

Click your CLIP file, on the right side of the screen, you need to copy/paste ClipName: bluefire : PosePack_2017blahblah lots of numbers...set1

Is what you need, it ties the actor's Blend file to the animation,

You should set the animation length to longer, at present it's gonna play for 10 seconds, you should go for 60

It's pretty normal for the line in the stbl editor to turn yellow, the text string that you have to generate can be anything completely random, it just translates this into a unique key, the string you generated is fine but for your next animation you need to type something different as this will generate a unique code (animation name) 0x ...... if you type the same thing again, it will produce the same I.d. after that, the name "masturbation" is fine :)

Good luck and we're here to help if you need any more!

It works! Goodness gracious oh happy day! The ClipName was the culprit, thank you Rlo!

So the animation_length has nothing to do with the animation itself but rather how long you want it to play ingame? Like before it changes stage if there are any?

Also thanks for linking your animation thread, it's very useful ^^

Satisfactory!

Hey! I'm really happy for you!

I thought that must be it!

I can't take credit, the animation thread is from Redabyss, he's very knowledgeable and spent a lot of time helping me out, solving my issues so it's nice to be able to share the knowledge :) once you've done it a few times, you'll be comfortable and the coding side of things will seem less delicate!

That's right about the animation length,

It just specifies the amount of time your loop will play for,

The screenshot looks good and I hope you have fun making more :)
