Pet Collars as Accessories

  • This CC is offered completely free
  • You’re allowed to modify it in any way, shape or form imaginable; asking me for permission is not necessary
  • I don’t take requests nor commissions

Details:

  • Base game compatible
  • For teen, young adult and adult femsims
  • Located in the “Accessory” category, eyewear slot
  • Enabled for naked, everyday, sleepwear, formalwear, athletic, swimwear, career, outwear and validformaternity
  • Disabled for random sims
  • All LODs and morphs
  • Polycount: around 400-700
  • 3 to 4 color channels
  • Only available in .package format

Defects:

  • I tried to make morphs (and probably find why it conflicts with the Impossible Heels) but it didn’t work. Instead I made a “one size fits all” (what you normally see in custom necklaces and alike) but didn’t liked the result so I adapted the shape around the base body. Looks “better” except on thin sims where it looks oversize and on fat sims it clips completely (sorry!)
  • Game animations look “fine” with some minor clipping, on custom animation there’s a chance for the back to clip completely inside the neck depending how much the sim bends it (just be aware I didn’t test every animation so more oddities might appear)

Notes:

  • These are some of the collars that cats and dogs use in the “S3: Pets” expansion I really doubt I’m the first one to adapt them but for this project I had less time than usual so I decided to use it to make this CC instead of searching :P
  • Surprisingly “textures” are not in the defects section because I did a couple of adjustments and used Season’s hockey mask as base (it allows the use of a normal map and “very high” LOD) so even if you’re not using the HD Mod the texture will look better than expected
  • If you want to use glasses and the collars at the same time, or any other accessory on the same slot, you’ll need nraas mastercontroller
  • Friendly reminder: using s3pe you can remove clothing categories or add new ones
  • Because morphs are non existent, it’s a low-poly mesh and only uses one bone at full value, this could be a good project to start learning modding tools, just saying

Credits:

  • Electronic Arts for the mesh and textures

Can’t be too detailed because english is not my first language, I’ll try to give you the essentials.

The secret is inside this accessory from Sims 3: Seasons (also known as afAccessoryGlassesMaskEp08Hockey):

It uses a “Very high level of detail” mesh that I suspect was specifically created by EA to avoid ruining the texture, it also uses a normalmap so that adds more detail. In this case I used the same LOD1 mesh on both “very high” and “high” level of detail, it works without problems.

For an extra level I changed every collar texture(mask, multiplier, specular, normalmap):

On the left is the original texture on the right is my modification, I just increased the texture inside the canvas instead of scaling the texture to 2048x2048 (because my game slows down when using 2k or 4k textures…). The first option requires to modify the UV Map for every mesh, the second doesn’t so it could be considered the quickest solution IF you have the cpu/gpu power to take advantage.

The rest is exactly the same as any other project.

NOTE: To make this CC “base compatible” open the final .package in s3pe, select the CASP resource and press “Enter”; change the “Group” from “0x78000000” to “0x00000000”.

Could you also enable these for male sims? They'd be perfect for werewolves.  biggrin.png

To enable it for males you need to download s3pe, then open my package and select the file with the CASP tag and then press on the “Grid” button below.

Then go to the “Age/Gender”, and then on the “Gender” tab and double click on “Male” to change the value from “False” to “True” (this window might appear different on Windows 7/Vista/XP but is the same procedure. Press commit and then Crtl+S, done!

BUT!

Because the collar was adapted using the femsim body it will clip on shoulders and probably everywhere else on the male neck (probably not so much on thin males)

Because I “specialize” on making stuff for females there’s 0 chance I’ll ever adapt it to males so your best bet is searching on tumblr/whatever else simmers upload their stuff these days, or adapting it yourself (is not that difficult).
