How to use a SOS script on a weapon ?

Hi guys. I was wondering if someone could please help me with something

 

So what I am trying to do is add the effects of the SOS potions (essence of the Troll, Falmer, and  Dragon) on a weapon. So i first went to the magic effects that have the relevant scripts, set "fire and forget"  in casting type and "Contact" in delivery. I then added the magic effect to an enchantment and added that to a weapon. But the effect is not applied when i use the weapon.

 

Am I doing something wrong, have i missed something or will simply the script cannot work on a weapon?

What type of weapon were the effects being applied to ? Have you tried putting them on staves?

I tried putting them on daggers . havent tried staves yet.  are there spell scripts that simply wont work on weapons?
