Mephisto_VI Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Not sure if this is common knowledge, or if someone else has posted this, but the way to download flash games from sites like Funny-Games.biz is simple  1) Open the page for the game you want.  2) Depending on your browser, the keystrokes might be different (in case right-clicking is disabled) but for Chrome, press Ctrl+U  3) press Ctrl+F to open a search box, type in Embed (you can also use Embed Src) If embed doesn't show up, try Iframe or Iframe src  4) Either right click the link on that line and save link/save link as or click the link to load it, then save the page (Ctrl+S). Attached pic shows the search and an example link   5) Profit!!!!  Congratulations, you now have a working copy of the flash game on your computer. Very useful for when you have no internet, want a copy to take with you, or just to do whatever with. This also works with other kinds of files, including .flv, .mp4, and others.  EDIT: Updated search terms
Mephisto_VI Posted July 12, 2012 Author Posted July 12, 2012 Did not know about that method. Would work well I suppose if it were easy to sort through. Would be more difficult as more files are stored with each page loaded. Good though for those that don't have the links embedded like my example.
mayatola Posted July 12, 2012 Posted July 12, 2012 How does the about:cache work? Or what do you save it as? I got to the part where you find the link, but I can't save link as. I can only copy the link, paste it in browser, then Ctrl+S to save the page. But it only gives me these options: Â webpage, complete (*.htm; *.html) web archive, single file (*.mht) webpage, HTML only (*.htm; *.html) text file (*.txt) Â Saving it as anything other than the 3rd option gives me a page full of gibberish after some freeze up time. Also, saving as the 3rd option shows that the file size is only 4kb, but it seems to work. How is that? Â I do have some flash games saved as .swf and they are much larger. Would appreciate it someone could explain how I can do it properly. Or is it because I'm just using IE9? Thanks.
Mephisto_VI Posted July 22, 2012 Author Posted July 22, 2012 Mayatola, once you find the link, copy it and paste it into the address bar then load it. It SHOULD load only the flash file and then you save the page (which is ONLY the file itself.) This I know is doable in Firefox and Google Chrome, not tried it in IE though. The about:cache route shows you what is in the cache after having visited the page with the file you want. From there, you can browse to the file and save a permanent copy. The more pages you load though, the more you have to sort through to find what you want, which the way I posted is a bit faster (not checked to see if you can use the "find" feature when browsing the cache though, so maybe not faster but just the same.)
Renax Posted July 23, 2012 Posted July 23, 2012 What I do is write "about:cache" in the addressbar (I use Opera btw) and then I search for the site I saw the flash with "ctrl+f". Â When I find the correct site, I open that "List" and then search for "Swf". I take notice that the file is correct size. If it's not, or you can't find it, then open a tab with that flash running. Hit "f5" in the cache and you can download the .swf by right-clicking it and hit "save linked content as". Â Might be hard for some people.
Mephisto_VI Posted July 24, 2012 Author Posted July 24, 2012 That might be an Opera-only feature Renax. When using the about:cache method in Firefox, it doesn't list the items grouped by website, it shows EVERY FILE in the cache. Ctrl+F is more limited in its usefulness unless the .swf object has the same name as the website itself. And if it is named with seemingly random numbers and letters instead of words, good luck with the Ctrl+F method. Its why I put the walkthrough that I did up. It greatly speeds up the finding of the correct file that you want, regardless of the browser you use.
SilverVirage Posted July 26, 2012 Posted July 26, 2012 Unfortunately, this wont work on some sites, like Kongregate. And I think that Newgrounds has updated in the last while to prevent this there as well.
