Queen Bee Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 This is just a place for me to throw out some of the stuff I think about. Feel free to post your own or respond to mine.  Today's Thought:  Lab grown meat  Eating the meat of a cow without having to kill it? I wonder how vegans would feel about this. And the implications are far reaching. I mean, you could eat any meat, guilt free. Lion steak, rhino burgers, dolphin sandwiches. Human meat. Hell, I could clone my own flesh and eat that. I could eat myself and not die.  Wow.  That's just...wow. I think I just blew my own mind.
thesapien Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Actually, you might die if you try to only eat human flesh. It would be an interesting experiment though. My guess is that you won't get enough nutrients. I think this is why no plant or animal ever tends to eat its own kind and avoid their own dead. It's like, say you need iron and instead of eating something more dense in iron than a human, you try to get enough iron from eating another human. You then need to eat your own weight in human flesh to be able to replace your own iron! That's a lot of work when you could had simply eaten something else more dense in the nutrients you need. It's a common myth that you are what you eat or that eating something more similar to yourself is better. You also run the risk of toxic poisoning. Think Mad Cow Disease. I remember an experiment once done to an insect species that was fed its own kind in ground up form. It killed them within a day.
Queen Bee Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 Ah yes, Creutzfeldt-Jakob disease, basically the same as Mad Cow but for humans. I'm pretty sure you have to eat a lot of human flesh for that to happen, though. But I didn't say I'd only eat myself forever, just make a me sandwich or two. It would be a unique experience, to be sure.
thesapien Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 You probably already know, but this type of technique was originally developed for medical uses and is still advancing in that field. It was part of that whole stem cell debate. Now, there are methods of not using stem cells, well, not cells that were originally stem cells, basically, instead making any cell revert back to a stem cell so that the original debate may no longer be an issue.
Guest GingerTom Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 @queenbee57 Â This is an interesting idea for a thread. Your own thread--really--your own thread. (I should have thought of it--or as the comic said: Maybe I will.) Â At the same time, and I'm sorry queenbee57 but I have another rather pressing engagement so I won't be able to accept your dinner invitation tonight...

[/quote'] Â I had heard this as well. A really wild news story (I forget where I heard this) said a while back that they could turn a stem cell into a human egg. I haven't followed up on it since, but I remember thinking how wonderful this would be for gay couples, because they could have children that were both of theirs. No word on if they could make one a sperm and give lesbians the same opportunity. Â Â @queenbee57 Â This is an interesting idea for a thread. Your own thread--really--your own thread. Queen Bee Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 All out. I guess I'll have to find something else to drink...
GrimReaperCalls Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Hm... while eating my own flesh was not something I had considered, tasting my own blood does sound pretty... uh weird but also kind of interesting xD.
Guest GingerTom Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 Even I've done that and the sight of blood makes me faint--first I taste, then I faint.
Queen Bee Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 I'm actually not fond of blood myself. I know, it sounds so contradictory given my kinks. But...well, too much blood grosses me out. I like "cleaner" violence.
Guest Bacon Posted July 6, 2012 Posted July 6, 2012 On the subject of blood. I sometimes pull of enough skin of the inside of my lip with my teeth until it starts to bleed and i like the taste of it. But if it's from a cut on my arm or something then no thanks. Kinda weird how that works.

I like "cleaner" violence. [/quote'] Â I'm that way when it comes to violence in movies. A little blood is okay, but if they start using blood like its the star of the movie it gets hard to watch. Â On the subject of blood. I sometimes pull of enough skin of the inside of my lip with my teeth until it starts to bleed and i like the taste of it. But if it's from a cut on my arm or something then no thanks. Kinda weird how that works. Â It's like when you have a runny nose, the difference between sniffing in then swallowing (okay) and blowing out then eating (yuck!). Plus, when you lick or suck a wound, you often taste salts and whatever else is on your skin. From your tongue, it's like pure blood!
Queen Bee Posted July 6, 2012 Author Posted July 6, 2012 Sniffing and then swallowing is still gross. Blech!
thesapien Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 True. So about the difference between swallowing your own saliva as is normal or spitting into a glass then drinking it? Once something is outside the body, we seem to suddenly have a different reaction to it. Probably a good thing, too.
Guest GingerTom Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Oops! I forgot what thread I was in and almost posted something that would get me banned in this thread. Â Good night everybody!
Guest GingerTom Posted July 7, 2012 Posted July 7, 2012 Wonder no longer: It was just something about swallowing.
Queen Bee Posted July 7, 2012 Author Posted July 7, 2012 Random thought of the day: Â Winnie the Pooh. He's a Poohbear, and his name is Winnie. So why, in all the books and cartoons and movies, does no one call him Winnie? Isn't that weird? To have a name no one uses? It'd be like if Christopher Robin was called Christopher the Boy, and everyone just called him Boy. Â I think this is really weird.
Queen Bee Posted July 8, 2012 Author Posted July 8, 2012 Random thought of the day: Â The porn ads on this website, does anyone ever click them? I mean, I'd click on them if it was a fetish site having a sale on paddles, but really? "Two girls show you (on each other) the secrets to getting women off". Yeah right! Do they really think they're kidding anyone? Is it even worth it?
thesapien Posted July 9, 2012 Posted July 9, 2012 I've always wondered the same. Apparently there are enough clicks to make it count.
Queen Bee Posted July 9, 2012 Author Posted July 9, 2012 There must be. And I want to support LL as much as I can. I'd click myself if I didn't suspect every one of them of containing a trojan or spyware.
