So what exactly causes a random ctd?

Is it just an improper load order? I have a fairly good amount of scripted mods running, I am using a bashed patch for my mods and made sure my priority list in MO matches my load order which I sorted with LOOT.

 

However I still face a random ctd even in a quite location where there shouldn't be any scripted mods running such as  the Jarl longhouse or a quiet inn. I could just be standing still and then suddenly crash.

Running this on a Nvidia 1060 6GB card along with:

16 GB RAM

i5-6400 CPU 2.70 GHz

Not really sure what i can say about random ctds other than they seem to happen at random... go figure.

Anything from too much happening or too many textures loading to scripts causing havoc or the game just being moody seems to cause crashing.

The more you mod this already fairly unstable game the more you will notice hiccups of the crashing and burning variety.

 

All that pointless drivel aside, a minor issue i have with your load list (and most others who post load orders) is how many mods you have that you can/should merge with others.

The various sos plugins and handfuls of armor/weapon/follower mods that take up needless space... in this case i suppose it means nothing, but it still breaks my heart to see so many slots used by what should only take a couple.

Dont know either just had freeze  . Runs fine for hours then just stops . I think its to do with Skyrim rubbish 2g memory .

Enable logging and check the log.

 

As for why, it might not even show in the log. Some reasons I can think of:

• bad NIF - can crash the game as soon as they are loaded
• memory full - lots of possible reasons here
• scripts piling up in the background - can crash later in 'calm' locations because of memory full
• Lots of running scripts - overloading what Skyrim can handle
• script errors - should show in log
• Skyrim being Skyrim - it is known for being unstable, especially with lots of mods.

Not all, but most of random in-game ctd is caused by respawn.

If with a pair of trying to entering in some area you'll get ctd, just forget to visit this area till respawn happens.

Or do your actions in another areas, or 'advance' time with 'seep' or 'wait' (I can't show how many times exactly, because respawn may differ with set of mods you have used). In 99% you'll no get ctd with entering after respawn happens.
