Trykz Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 Okay, so I dropped a sneak peek of this in another thread last night, and it seemed to go over well enough. I started on this race almost immediately after reading some of the few Dawnguard DLC specifics, so here we go: The body is a custom mesh I generated in Bodyslide for UNP, using the muscular women mesh as a reference. The textures from muscular women looked pretty shitty with veins popping out everywhere (and nothing lined up very well on the new meshes), so I scrapped them out completely for a clean set of UNP textures with the sporty muscle map. Looks MUCH better IMHO This race won't be available until after Dawnguard releases for PC, mainly because the wings you see in the pics are just placeholders until I see what can be done with the Vampire Lord wings that will surely be available after the DLC releases. However, there is one issue that needs to be addressed: there isn't much in the way of armors available for them to use. Any of the muscular women armors/clothes fit them, but they're all just modified vanilla, and most of them clip pretty badly. So if any of the mesh gurus here would like to work up some armors for this body, I can make the body meshes/textures available upon request. In a nutshell, this race will be the "anti-Vampire Lord", with no vampire variant and unable to be infected with the vampire disease. They WILL however, be capable of werewolf transformations as part of their highly custom and specialized abilities/effects package I also plan to utilize the Vampire Lord's flight capability, assuming that Bethesda includes everything necessary in the CK update that will eventually follow the release of the DLC. I'm still working on them here and there as I think of things to add. So I'll post some more progress pics over the next few weeks. If it seems like the CK update will be delayed for a lengthly period after the DLC, I may release this race after the launch, and update the abilities package after the CK update. Time will tell. jhondidfool Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 For me the pet peeve are the wings. I'm yet to see decent rigged and animated wings in Skyrim (And Oblivion, for that matter). But if it rocks your boat... hurray! go ahead and share it, many will enjoy... maybe I will after I edit the wings out PS: Valkyries having wings is a christianization of the myth, to euiparate them to angels. They flew un horse carts (I know it's not the word, just bear with me).
Trykz Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 For me the pet peeve are the wings. I'm yet to see decent rigged and animated wings in Skyrim (And Oblivion' date=' for that matter).[/quote'] Well, none have really been available for use in the game. The problem is the animations. Without a way to add new animations to the game, there's simply no animating character fitted wings. Dawnguard is about to change that by adding them with the Vampire Lord race. The only hindering possibility, is if Bethesda doesn't make them a separate armor add-on "part" (like the animated tail on the beast races). And I don't give a rats ass about the religious aspect of any mythos If it looks cool, and it works as I intend, then that's what I'll go with Trykz
darkvblade Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 I do not believe it is a separate armor addon from what i can see plus it looks bad ass when you are flying and running on the ground
sammythesquirrel Posted June 27, 2012 Posted June 27, 2012 even if its not a separate armor item couldn't you just retex the vampire lord race and then give them the abilities stats ect, that you want them to have?

Trykz Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 I do not believe it is a separate armor addon from what i can see plus it looks bad ass when you are flying and running on the ground The XBox version isn't built using the same parts as the PC version. I don't believe the XBox version even uses the same file types. In the PC version, all character and npc bodies are comprised of 4-5 parts: skinnaked armo: the template holding the actual body part add-on list for humanoid races skinnakedbeast armo: same as above, but including a tail slot nakedfeet arma: the armature add-on of the foot nakedhands arma: the armature add-on of the hands nakedtorso arma: the armature add-on of the body nakedtail arma: the armature add-on of the tail (where applicable) The most notable item being the tail. As it's animated separately from the body, it needs to be isolated as a separate armature mesh, so it can animate when the body is still. Looking at some of the gameplay video floating around, there are distinct instances where the wings are clearly not being used (but are still moving), regardless of whether the rest of the Vampire Lord body is being animated or not. Finally, Bethesda likes to keep things simple. And simply adding an additional animated armature (call it "skinnakedwings") to a new body armo is about as easy as it gets. Trykz

Trykz Posted June 27, 2012 Author Posted June 27, 2012 LOL.... I knew that little secret would trigger someone's spidey sense You'll see it soon enough. And now I'll say no more I have a TON of stuff in the pipe though. So I'm basically just bouncing back and forth between projects until I see what might need to be altered when Dawnguard and the updated CK are released. Trykz

Pd: i like this Valki: [img']http://hijiribe.donmai.us/data/93261a64783841b90b7e6216a3ac09e5.jpg[/img] First, I build my race mods using whatever parts I find most suitable to get the look I want them to have. For most, I include a ton of options for the user, and try to keep things as compatible as possible. Second, not all of my races will be beauty queens with porno bodies. Which means you have a few choices: a) deal with the mod as is quietly swap the body for whatever shit you want to use (but don't expect me to support anything I don't include in the package if it breaks the mod, your saves, or your game) c) go make your own mod and use whatever shit you want Finally, it's really not considered good form to shit on anyone's work, simply because you don't agree with the form it's in. Especially here. I don't do this shit just for myself. If you like it, play it. If you don't, then just move along. Pretty simple, right? Trykz
mastergundam747 Posted June 28, 2012 Posted June 28, 2012 Woah, I love the mesh and textures! I would download this just for them haha
Trykz Posted June 28, 2012 Author Posted June 28, 2012 Woah' date=' I love the mesh and textures! I would download this just for them haha [/quote'] LOL.... I never understood why anyone would look at a race mod, and then expect the author to make it so their characters look like every other human female race mod out there. My stuff works because I don't want them to look like Ashen, or Yaksha, or even like Moonshadow Elves. No one shows a pic of one of my races and asks, "what mod is this?" or "what face texture?"... They know just by looking because it's different. I'm not here to make Ashen or Yaksha with wings and horns or elf ears. If that's what someone is looking for, they can download the accessories from Nexus and pretend all they want. Trykz
Trykz Posted June 28, 2012 Author Posted June 28, 2012 You know, looking over the available Dawnguard trailers and gameplay footage cropping up on YouTube, it's pretty clear that these Vampire Lords don't actually "fly". They "hover". It appears that it may just be a slightly modified version of the water-walking ability, which is used by Dragon Priests in the current game. That said, I axed the wings for now, until I see if there's any actual difference, and if hover elevation can be modified. I also took another look through the update.esm, and noticed that there are a few new forms. Such as individual texture sets for male and female werewolves. Which would indicate that there are coming changes to werewolves, with a clear division between male and female of the race. Currently, the werewolves are all the same, no matter the player sex. I have a feeling this DLC is going to break not only every werewolf mod currently available, but all of the werewolf related compatibility scripting as well, which is what allows custom races to progress through many parts of the Companions questline. The reason I bring this up here, is because I intend for this race to come pre-packaged with werewolf transformations as a racial ability, which can be used at will. It's actually a "new" transformation, into a new accompanying werewolf race, separate from the vanilla werewolf race. Currently, it's all just duplicated werewolf parts and mechanics, with some custom textures to make them white. But if werewolves are going to get standard body armo/arma, then I'll likely change things up to utilize those, as the current werewolf body is only a torso arma. I just hope Bethesda doesn't decide to wait 6 months after the DLC to update the Creation Kit. Or custom races may be broken for quite some time. Trykz
Trykz Posted June 30, 2012 Author Posted June 30, 2012 So I did a little work on this, and made a few changes. First, I renamed the race to Valkyr for a more basic persona, with a less religious overtone, but still firmly grounded in Viking lore. I also made some changes to the female body, and I'm pretty satisfied with the results: Warning: big pics ahead..... I also worked up males for this race, with a "clean" look, very similar to the females. I'll get pics of them up later this evening. Currently, the plan is for them to be aligned with the Dawnguard, with a special snow white werewolf transformation called "Werekiin form", which is proprietary to the race (about 80% implemented so far). I've removed the wings for the moment, but I'll be adding an alternate .esp to the package which will include them on both sexes. The wings are subject to change depending on what the CK has to offer after the Dawnguard update, but I'll be providing both winged and non-winged versions regardless. Be back later with some more pics..... Trykz
jhondidfool Posted June 30, 2012 Posted June 30, 2012 The breats are not anatomically correct: with such a build, it's impossible they form a cup so "tall" with so little radius. Check bodybuilder women, because right now they scream "sillicone!!111!1!!!!1!!". I'm trying to give you some constructive criticism, sorry if I sounded a bit harsh.

[/quote'] I appreciate the criticism, especially when it's constructive. However, not being a mesh modder myself, this is the best I could get using BodySlide for UNP. I imagine it could be more anatomically correct, but it's not gonna happen unless someone wants to adjust the body I made (which I offered to supply at the beginning of the thread). Apparently everyone is too busy with their own stuff, and I can certainly relate to that. So for now, it is what it is. Trykz
Trykz Posted July 1, 2012 Author Posted July 1, 2012 As promised, here's a shot of the male of the race (another sizable pic): After a bit of thought, I may look into a different female body type, until I can set aside the time to learn some mesh editing, but haven't really decided yet. My primary concern at the moment is a serious lack of available armors for females with a heavily muscled body, and I really don't want the entire mod to go to waste for that reason alone. So I'm looking into a few optional bodies, but we'll see. I still have a few weeks before Bethesda adds any of the Dawnguard stuff to the Creation Kit. Trykz
