SOS Mod Loading Error

I accidentally deleted my autosave and quicksave files and got them back when a friend sent me theirs to download, but now when I run NMM a window appears saying: "Mod loading error" for Schlongs of Skyrim and when I try to add it back to the list of mods it has an error again and says "root element missing."

I tried reinstalling NMM, disabling all SOS compatibility mods, reinstalling Skyrim and switching to an earlier version of NMM, but it still happens.

I also tried installing it manually and its menus showed but the options had $ signs in front of them and selecting them didn't change anything.

 

How do I fix?
