Oaklore Posted June 24, 2012 Posted June 24, 2012 My question is simple, but I'm not certain of the simplicity of the answer. Basically, I am hoping to find out how to safely remove a parent master file dependency from an .esp file. For example: Lets say I added ApachiiHair.esm to the active master file list when creating a mod, then decide that I no longer wish to use it. Indeed, I may not wish to leave ApachiiHair.esm installed in any way whatsoever, but still wish to retain the mod.esp I created without having to recreate it entirely from scratch. I understand that I would of course have to remove any usage of that master file's resources from the mod.esp I created, this goes without saying. However, is there a way either via CK or tesvsnip that I can remove a parent master file reference so that the mod.esp file may be loaded and edited without causing the CK (or even worse, the game engine) to have a heart attack when it goes looking for a master file that no longer exists? Thanks for any assistance that may be provided.
Oaklore Posted June 25, 2012 Author Posted June 25, 2012 I guess when people read this question they just think "LAWL! N00B!!1!@!1!!" and move on to the next topic..
Oaklore Posted June 25, 2012 Author Posted June 25, 2012 may be they dont post because they dont know. Granted, this could be true. Actually being a noob, I simply assumed it something that was probably common knowledge among veteran modders and merely my own inexperienced ignorance preventing me from figuring it out. I have noticed in some other threads passing reference to wryebash being able to affect parent master designations. I haven't figured it out of course, but hopefully someone does know the safest procedure for this task.
Oaklore Posted July 3, 2012 Author Posted July 3, 2012 *bump* Surely someone can help with this please..?
creeposaurus Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Couldn't you just uncheck (in the CK) the master file you no longer wish to use then resave the esp? I think as long as the resources are removed, it should be fine.
Slammer64 Posted July 3, 2012 Posted July 3, 2012 Remove all references to the parent in the .esp, then fire up the esp in TES4EDIT and do a clean masters.
Oaklore Posted July 4, 2012 Author Posted July 4, 2012 Remove all references to the parent in the .esp' date=' then fire up the esp in TES4EDIT and do a clean masters. [/quote'] Thanks! I wasn't aware Tes4Edit could be used on Skyrim. Any recommendation as to which version would be best for such purpose on a Skyrim .esp file please? It seems that 2.5.3 (Aug 2009) was the most recent non-beta version, however 3.0.15-Experimental (Oct 2010) is more than 12 months more recent.
Slammer64 Posted July 4, 2012 Posted July 4, 2012 Damn, sorry, I put this in the wrong thread, please disreguard.
