Sparowe Chan Posted January 3, 2017 Posted January 3, 2017 I'm trying to fix and issue with my characters neck and no it's not a neck seam, sort of. I recently used ECE to export a preset that was only available in ECE and so I had to load it in there, export and then load up racemenu to use the preset. My problem is that after the import my characters neck area isn't smooth and is jagged/bumpy. I tried using the masking feature in racemenu but I am getting really frustrated with the controls and overall wonkyness of doing mesh edits in the game via these methods. Now if I were to go and reinstall my body textures, stuff like normal maps, diffused, etc. and as well as reinstalling the body meshes I am using along with the head meshes, could this fix my problem? Or does my problem have to do with the actual imported preset? I've been trying to find some guides or tutorials regarding editing body/head/neck meshes in 3DS Max or Cinema 4D or something similar but I keep getting nothing but armor and weapon videos or how to use body slide / outfit studio. While I am completely aware of this, I would like to know what steps are taken when doing/making a characters body mesh via 3DS, C4D, etc. While watching some videos and going by things I learned from past attempts with armor or weapons, I know programs have features to "smooth" out all the the mesh or polys? I'm still in the process of learning all this stuff and would really just like to actually play my damn game. Yea a lot is my own fault because of my own mentality/OCD/neat freak. I've got my body ready, as well as my preset for it. My hands and feet don't have any seams or discolorations. it's just my damn head/neck > body. I've got the texture blending all working out so everything matches across my whole body as far as skin tone goes. It's just my funky looking mutated neck mesh/texture/??? Hope to hear back from somebody about this. Thanks!
Sparowe Chan Posted January 3, 2017 Author Posted January 3, 2017 My neck basically looks like a sack of bricks lol. Instead of a nice smooth and even slope from jawline to the body mesh, I've got mini mountains and bumps. I'll try and get a good screenshot shortly. MotokoKusanagiSkyrim2.nif That's my most recent head preset import. Don't know if that would help for now?

If you tried to import that into RaceMenu, I suspect it would work fine. If the neckline wasn't smooth, RaceMenu's sculpt mode does have a smooth brush. I would mask the bottom vertices around the neckline, so you don't create a seam. Then smooth brush the parts that aren't smooth. Bodyslide does have a smooth brush as well, and it will import/export head meshes last I checked. 3DS Max has a "Relax" brush you can use if you convert it to an editable poly. But, as I said, the neckline on that mesh looks pretty normal to me. If you're having another issue, I'd need more information, or at least a screenshot.
Sparowe Chan Posted January 4, 2017 Author Posted January 4, 2017 omg how did you do that? The little "plug" things on the neck aren't my problem though, those I don't mind. My neck just doesn't import looking like that at all. I just got off of work, it's 3am where I am. Going to load up my game and take some SS. Thanks for the replies guys! Yea I wasn't getting any seems, basically, now that I've had time to think about what it actually resembled, parts of my neck looked like a cumbled piece of paper was underneath the skin/texture. It's like the surface of the actual mesh itself was portraying a crumbled piece of paper instead of what was pictured above.

Without a screenshot, none of us will know exactly what you're talking about.
