Note: The way I understand it' date=' ZertualPro modeled this weapon after Marat-Ars' Black Phoenix design that he made for the Dominance War V contest . I'm assuming he did this without permission, and hence the ban. Of course, this is purely speculation and I don't know the real story. In whatever case, the original owner and credit of the design is Marat-Ars.

but he modeled it based off of art? do you know how many models are based off of art of some else? based off this they might as well remove the WH40k mods from nexus as well. now if he stole the model than thats something else.

Are you really that insensitive to the rights of an artist and the work they put into their creations, let alone the principal of passing off others work as your own?

 

Let's pretend that you are a freelance computer graphics artist and you have dedicated the last 4-6 years to your craft and higher education, with a portfolio to back up the time and effort you've invested into your occupation. You then come across, or hear about, someone using your (notice ownership) designs and passing them off as their own or at the very least not providing proper credit. What would you, as the owner of the designs, do at this point? It's not like you make these designs as a hobby, these are your livelihood.

 

I don't think what ZertualPro did was malicious in intent, but the fact remains that he used copy-written material and ultimately paid the price for that.

im just going off the info stated. the big question is is he using someone elses model or did he model it himself but based off of someones design? if its the second one than thats a slippery slope. he can claim he made the model but he cant say he made the design. but that opens the door on any of the custom modeled stuff on nexus if there design is based on something else.

So, wait, are we clear on exactly what happened? Was the model and/or texture directly stolen? Was credit not given to the original creator? Because if the model and texture were made from scratch and credit for the design was given, then the mod author did nothing wrong and didn't deserve a ban.

 

If not, well, the author is a dick and kinda deserved it.

 

EDIT: Downloaded because I wanted it anyway, read the readme. Yup, the dumbfuck didn't credit the original artist at all. Quality ban (for a change).
